Jeremy Stephens put a cap on the first event of 2018 for the UFC Sunday night, stopping Dooho Choi in the second round of their headline bout at UFC Fight Night 124.
Stephens, a veteran of the Octagon, landed a series of strikes and elbows that forced the stoppage at the 2:36 mark of the round. The event aired live on FOX Sports 1 from the Scottrade Center in St. Louis.
With the win, Stephens improved to 27-14 overall and scored his 14th career win with the UFC. He has claimed back-to-back victories and is 4-3 over his last seven. The loss was the second consecutive setback for Choi, as he is now 14-3.
In the co-main event, Jessica-Rose Clark ended a rough stretch for herself personally by stopping Paige VanZant via decision. Last week, Clark’s Las Vegas home was robbed while she was preparing for the bout.
Clark dominated the contest against VanZant, sweeping the scorecards for her second career UFC win. VanZant suffered a broken arm in the first round, but was able to hear the final horn sound.
