Last night all eyes were on King Mo Lawal as he tried to recover from a spinning backfist loss to Emanuel Newton in the Bellator Season 8 LHW semifinals. Interestingly enough, his opponent was one Seth Petruzelli, best known for exposing the overhyped products of promotions attempting to create stars. With this irony in place, it seemed quite possible that Petruzelli would take Mo out. Instead, Lawal knocked Petruzelli out in a p0wntown worthy finish.

The Bellator ‘Summer Series’ being comprised of four man tournaments, this puts King Mo into the finals … one fight away from winning a totally legit Bellator tournament! He’ll go up against Jacob Noe, another fighter ousted from the Season 8 semis. Considering that, this series is basically determining a runner up from last season’s 205 pound tournament. Because this is Bellator, where title shots are earned! Or the tournaments are restructured until the right guy earns the title shot.
