As they will do at least 12 times this year, SpikeTV will air one hour of free preliminary fights just prior to the PPV broadcast of UFC 126 this Saturday.  Scheduled for that hour are Donald “Subo’s Friend” Cerrone vs Paul Kelly, and tiny decision machine Chad Mendes vs former Sengoku star Michihiro Omigawa.

Omigawa is currently ranked #4 in the world, but that lineup still leaves an arguably bigger Japanese star out in the cold, as former K-1 Hero’s standout Norifumi “Kid” Yamamoto (18-3) will make his UFC debut in a “dark” prelim match against Demetrious Johnson (7-1).  Though his star has recently lost some of its luster, the idea of Kid in the UFC was an acceptable fanboy alternative to Viagra for years. He was widely considered to be one of the best featherweights in the world.

So you’d think he would’ve gotten some promotional push for his UFC debut and more attention from fans, but this fight seems to have gone almost unnoticed until just the last couple days. Now it seems like maybe the Baldfather won’t let it slip by quite so quietly: when asked on Twitter by hundreds of people why Kid wasn’t on the Spike prelims, Dana replied, “I have something special for that fight so hang tight.”

Does this mean another Facebook prelim stream is brewing?  Something else entirely?  I guess we’ll find out soon, but in the meantime, feel free to amuse yourself with the above video of what is probably the fastest flying-knee KO in MMA history.  For more Kid goodness, check out CagePotato’s video roundup HERE.
