“UFC Tonight” provided some key updates concerning UFC fighters Wednesday evening, including Josh Barnett, Miesha Tate and Daniel Cormier.

Barnett, coming off a loss to Travis Browne this past December, is a former UFC heavyweight champion. According to Ariel Helwani, he is targeting a return to action against a fellow former UFC titleholder.

“I talked to his manager and he wants to fight Junior dos Santos next. He wants to get back in the title picture and he has to go through him.”

As for Tate, she is looking at a fight in Japan later this summer against Rin Nakai. Nakai sports an unbeaten MMA record, while Tate is looking to string together a win streak following her victory over Liz Carmouche.

“There’s a big show in Japan on September 20 and the main event is Roy Nelson vs. Mark Hunt. I’m hearing that Miesha Tate could fight Rin Nakai, who is about to be signed to the UFC. She’s one of the rising prospects from Japan and is 16-0-1.”

As for Cormier, he is going to compete in an amateur wrestling match in July before going under the knife to repair a knee injury.

“Daniel Cormier will have surgery in early July. On morning of UFC 175, he’ll be competing in a final amateur wrestling match at the UFC Fan Expo. After that match, he’ll go under the knife and will be ready for the winner of Jones vs. Gustafsson.”
