It seems like everything related to Ronda Rousey’s debut is ripe for controversy. First we got to hear from a bunch of people on how Rousey didn’t deserve to headline her event. Then there were the people who seemed happy that ticket sales for her event were kinda slow. Now paycheck speculation has people worked up. Bloody Elbow repeated MMA Interviews:

MMAinterviews was told from a source close to Carmouche’s camp that Ronda Rousey will be earning $75,000 to show and $75,000 to win, plus a cut of pay per view when she defends her UFC title against Liz Carmouche at UFC 157. Carmouche will only be earning $12,000 to show and $12,000 to win according to the source. Rousey’s manager Darin Harvey refuted those statements, saying that those numbers are false, but did not disclose any further information on her contract.

This is apparently controversial because this would make Ronda Rousey a higher paid fighter than Dominick Cruz, Demetrious Johnson, and Jose Aldo. A WOMAN GETTING PAID MORE THAN MEN? THIS IS HERESY. She needs to be buried up to her neck in sand and stoned. But before we get too worked up, it’s worth noting that the numbers aren’t true:

In the end, what Rousey is making for show and win money isn’t going to make or break her financially. She’s undoubtedly getting a cut of PPV money, meaning any event pulling above 300,000 buys is going to bring her in a nice six figure chunk of cash. The story is the same for these other lower weight UFC champs as well, so no need to get out the pitchforks and storm the castle over how RONDA ROUSEY IS GETTING PAID MORE AND THAT’S WRONG BECAUSE SHE HAS BOOBS.
