It’s been two years since Herschel Walker has stepped into an MMA cage to fight, and it sounds like the Heisman trophy winner and former Olympic athlete is jonesing for another fix … this time in the big show:

“I would love to do it again,” he said. “I absolutely love MMA. I think it’s an excellent sport.

“If I was younger, I would be doing it right now. Because I’m a little bit older and I have a business going, I would like to do one more fight and then, I think, it’s time for me step aside and give it to the young people. But I would love to do one more fight.”

When asked by Dukes where he would want that fight to take place, the former Heisman Trophy winner emphatically said “in the UFC.”

Herschel Walker is no stranger to ambitious plans. Just last year he was pondering an NFL comeback, so is it really that surprising that he’d want a shot in the UFC now that his former promotion has been absorbed? I’m sure just no longer having to explain the difference between Strikeforce and the UFC to everyone at dinner parties who ask about ‘his UFC fight’ would make it worthwhile enough for him.

Unfortunately for Herschel, Dana White has never been very supportive of his MMA career. That might change now that the dude is under White’s umbrella, but it’s somewhat doubtful. Maybe he needs to turn into Walker the stalker and harass Dana White Toney-style until he agrees to give him a fight against someone on the lower end of the heavyweight division. What else was he gonna do with guys like Nandor Guelmino and Soa Palelei?
