There’s been so many injuries and fight cancellations lately that you’d never think we’d be happy about another one. Well, unless it involves Jon Fitch. But in the case of Dan Miller it’s certainly a good thing: he’s pulled out of his fight with Sean Pierson at UFC 152 because his son has finally been scheduled for a kidney transplant.

Danny Jr, now almost 2 years old, has a condition called polycystic kidney disease and for a while it looked like he may not make it. Not because the disease isn’t treatable, but because America is a fucked up place with death panels that decide who gets medical treatment and who doesn’t. AKA insurance companies. Fortunately, the MMA scene came together and raised the money need to pay for the operation and now the Millers get a baby with functioning organs.

A happy ending all around, except perhaps for Sean Peirson who’ll have to wait and see who will step in and face him on September 22nd. Fortunately for him it seems like all the tough guys are currently being big pussies about stepping up, so maybe he’ll get an easier opponent.
