Strikeforce 145lb womens’ champion and all-around scary asskicker Cris “Cyborg” Santos is staying in Strikeforce after all. Per

Despite conflicting reports recently as to whether Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos has departed ways with Strikeforce,  her manager Master Rudimar Fedrigo has confirmed to FCF today that the 145lb. champion has renewed her contract with the promotion.

Followers of this story will know that as of a week ago the chances of seeing Cyborg in a Strikeforce cage again weren’t looking so hot, so they either agreed to cough up the cash she deserves as the leading candidate for the title of best female MMA fighter in the game (unlikely), or those greener non-Strikeforce pastures turned out to look more like Stockton, CA (very likely).

Either way, Cyborg choosing to remain in the Strikeforce fold coupled with the recent signing of top prospect/focus of harrowing fightlinker nightmares Ronda Rousey makes this a pretty big week for the world of top-level WMMA. There’s still the small matter of finding someone to actually step into the cage with Cyborg and fight, but that’s the type of problem guys like Sean Shelby are very good at solving.

*UPDATE* MMA Junkie reminds us it’s not ‘official’ yet:

If Strikeforce women’s middleweight champion Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos has signed a new deal with the promotion, company officials aren’t saying so.

A representative told that Strikeforce “doesn’t have any official word on the contract status of ‘Cyborg’ at this time.”

But I bet it’s just dotting I’s, crossing T’s, and sending consolation cards to Gina Carano that say ‘Sorry about your chances of winning a belt now’
