Costas Philippou has dropped from his UFC on FX 8 fight with Jacare Souza on May 18th with a facial cut, according to MMAFighting’s Ariel Helwani.  In one of those precious fight card double-switches, Chris Camozzi, previously scheduled to face Rafael Natal on the card, will step in to fight Jacare and the UFC will bring in 14-3 João Zeferino to fight Natal.

If you value the UFC’s in-house rankings, UFC on Fuel 8 was set to feature four of the top nine middleweights in the division with the Belfort-Rockhold headliner being 2 vs. 5 and Philippou-Jacare being 6 vs. 8.  Because Anderson and Weidman fight in July, these two fights were going to be very meaningful for the middleweight title picture while we figure out what the fuck is actually going on with Operation Superfight.

Chris Camozzi is a good enough replacement on two weeks’ notice, but this is another free card that is now really hurting because of one injury.  The main event is pretty good but past that, the most exciting feature of the card would be the mere concept of Jacare’s debut and the hope that Dunham-dos Anjos pans out.  Free is free but it sure is fun being entitled sometimes.
