Yarennoka is definately PRIDE

Zombie-PRIDE is up to it’s old tricks by announcing fighters who aren’t fighting on their card. A few of the names in their list seemed kinda fishy from the get go, but I don’t hold sketchy Japanese promotions up to the same level of professionalism as I do with American companies.

Anyways, the first fighters to come out and say “I’m doing what when? Huh?” is Ricardo Arona, who cited ‘personal problems’ as the reason he’s not fighting and stated he wouldn’t be fighting until next year. Who will be next on the “I’m not fighting at this” train? My bet is Gilbert Melendez or Hellboy Hansen.

Ouch, looks like Fedor vs Hong Man Choi after all.

As far as I’m concerned, this just makes it more awesome. Last minute switch-outs and fake fighter announcements are like a NYE tradition!

Hong Man Choi– isn’t that the noodles in the blue can?

  • Blue says:

I’m guessing Hansen is game, Melendez hand injury would probably keep him from fighting though.

Whatever the end result, it will kick ‘Validation’s’ ass.

  • LR says:

Melendez has stated that his hand is feeling pretty good and he’s ready. He’s stated numerous times that he’s wanted a crack at Aoki. Here’s his chance. Add in Hansen, Sakurai, and the other big name lightweights, we could see a great event. Spectacle fight in Fedor is nothing but a draw fight, Japanese loves spectacle fights. If Choi can avoid being brutalized by Lebanner in the upcoming K-1 event, Choi could fight Fedor, but I think with Arona’s name on there, maybe Arona vs. Fedor, although Arona says he hasn’t been contacted.

That’s a pretty lofty goal. I don’t think they should set their sights that high this quickly.

Yes, let’s compare “zombie PRIDE’s” one event with event #10 or so of the UFC’s year. I think if you all those fights/fighters into one event it may be pretty damn good. Actually, that’s exactly what they should do.
