Wow, Nike just sponsored Anderson Silva

While he’s still not getting the kind of accolades Dana White would probably like from fans regarding his #1 P4P status, that hasn’t stopped Anderson Silva from banking some serious sponsorship coin lately. First there was a South American Burger King deal – who knew Brazil even had those? First the internet, now whoppers! And just confirmed: the holy grail of sports sponsorship … a deal with Nike!

Nike Brazil Director of Sports Marketing Luis Alexandre confirmed the deal to Tuesday; exact terms were not disclosed.

The news comes days after a cryptic video of Silva appeared online, sparking rumors of the transaction. The 90-second clip featured Silva staring menacingly at a camera, as he would an opponent, dressed in a red t-shirt with a prominent Nike “swoosh” logo.

Don’t think you’re missing out on anything if you don’t actually go check out the advert. It’s literally 90 seconds of Anderson standing there doing jack all. Maybe he’s being paid by the word. Or he just didn’t feel motivated that day. “Come on, playboy! Film me properly!”

Nike seems to be dabbling with a lot of foreign fighters. Maybe they don’t think the american market is worth the advertising dollars. Odd since US is the biggest MMA market right now. Waddup with that?

Check out this version of the ad!!!

They aren’t into the MMA market, they are into the shoe/clothing ect… market.

Brazil’s economy is full steam ahead. They are emerging as a financial hub. Money is to be made there. I am not a marketing guru but my assumption is that the American market is over saturated.

GSP bascially has nothing over the Spider now. People use to say GSP was the man because he was bringing in new sponsors like Underarmor to MMA.

yeah? Well A. Silva just got Nike son AND he can front kick nikkas to sleep.
