While he’s still not getting the kind of accolades Dana White would probably like from fans regarding his #1 P4P status, that hasn’t stopped Anderson Silva from banking some serious sponsorship coin lately. First there was a South American Burger King deal – who knew Brazil even had those? First the internet, now whoppers! And just confirmed: the holy grail of sports sponsorship … a deal with Nike!
Nike Brazil Director of Sports Marketing Luis Alexandre confirmed the deal to UOL.com.br Tuesday; exact terms were not disclosed.
The news comes days after a cryptic video of Silva appeared online, sparking rumors of the transaction. The 90-second clip featured Silva staring menacingly at a camera, as he would an opponent, dressed in a red t-shirt with a prominent Nike “swoosh” logo.
Don’t think you’re missing out on anything if you don’t actually go check out the advert. It’s literally 90 seconds of Anderson standing there doing jack all. Maybe he’s being paid by the word. Or he just didn’t feel motivated that day. “Come on, playboy! Film me properly!”
