Where is CBS?

Strikeforce has just revealed their general 2009 schedule to MMA Weekly, and tell me if you notice anything missing:

  • April 11: Strikeforce- “Shamrock vs. Diaz,” in San Jose, Calif.
  • May 8: First Strike- Albuquerque, N.M.
  • May 30 or June 6- Strikeforce- “Shields vs. Lawler.” The event will not be held in Tacoma, Washington. Instead, three undisclosed midwest cities are under consideration.
  • June: First Strike- date and location to be determined.
  • August: Strikeforce- 1st or 2nd weekend, location to be determined.
  • September: First Strike- date and location to be determined.
  • October: Strikeforce- 1st or 2nd weekend, location to be determined.
  • First Strike- date and location to be determined.
  • November: First Strike- date and location to be determined.
  • December: Strikeforce- 1st or 2nd weekend, location to be determined.

The First Strike shows are the ShoXC equivalents and Strikeforce events are the ‘full blown’ cards. My question: where’s CBS? Strikeforce has been tooting it’s horn talking about a CBS show and it went from being possible in the summer to being possible in the fall and still we haven’t heard anything definite about the situation.

I’m starting to wonder if Strikeforce on CBS isn’t turning out the same as Gina Carano and Kimbo Slice on Strikeforce: Scott Coker and the gang are talking a confident game but they really don’t have shit. Right now it’s up to CBS to call them, and the phone isn’t ringing. What happened to that Kelly Kahl guy from CBS who used to have such a boner for MMA? Why hasn’t he surfaced to comment on anything? And is CBS really going to show Strikeforce when Strikeforce is already on NBC?

It’s probably for the best that any events on CBS happen later rather than sooner. Considering Strikeforce just had to shuffle Jake Shields off their first card so their second card would have a half-decent headline fight, I get the feeling any show on CBS now would pull worse ratings than a Rosie O’Donnell porno flick.
