Volkmann plans to make Obamacare ‘his thing’

The thing most associate with Jacob Volkmann is how he looks less like an ultimate fighter and more like the kind of nerd ultimate fighters would pants and wedgie into oblivion during high school. But after that, people remember him for his anti-Obamacare interview with Ariel Helwani, and it sounds like he’s going to try and ride that dead horse even further:

They are the marks of a fighter’s personality and the things that identify them to the rest of the world. They are as much a part of a fighter’s brand as the style brought to the cage. Just about every high-profile competitor has a defining feature.

Jacob Volkmann would like to make Obamacare his.

“Even though people don’t want me to do it, I don’t care,” he told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com).

The UFC lightweight already has planned his next post-fight speech, rehearsed it, then come up with variations depending on the questions of commentator Joe Rogan. Every one of them takes the president to task.

Four months after it got him in hot water, Volkmann (12-2 MMA, 3-2 UFC) hasn’t forgotten about his beef with the president’s healthcare policy. Even if more controversy follows next time, he plans to continue voicing his opinion.

Volkmann goes on to complain that Obama hasn’t responded to any of his letters (“It’s like he doesn’t even really care about what happens,”), as if the Leader of the Free World has nothing better to do with his time than respond to undercard fighters from the UFC. What’s extra funny about this is the stuff in Obamacare Volkmann’s so upset about (the unnecessary bookkeeping burden placed on small businesses) was actually brought up by Obama during the last State of the Union speech (“We can start right now by correcting a flaw in the legislation that has placed an unnecessary bookkeeping burden on small businesses”).

But hey, let’s just ignore reality and focus all our problems real or imagined on one dude. It’s very clear that Obama is totally responsible for everything going on, and if there’s a single chiropractor in Minnesota that’s negatively affected by Obamacare, than by shucks I declare Obama to be the worst president in the history of Amurica and Obamacare an evil plot to destroy capitalism!

Too bad complaining about health care reform won’t make him a relevant fighter. He’ll be delivering those speeches in Strikeforce or Bellator by next year.

There’s a major problem with Obamacare in the U.S. that everyone seems to be overlooking: he’s black.
