Cris Cyborg is off Strikeforce’s CBS debut on November 7th over a shoulder injury she sustained during the ADCC grappling tournament a few weeks ago. This sucks hard for her and for women’s MMA, but hey … no use crying over spilt milk. If I had a time machine, I’d go back and give her the score (plus figure out a way to sneak into Gina Carano’s Body Issue photoshoot) but that’s unfortunately not the way the world works until we figure out how to get around that jerk Einstein’s dumbass theories.
So where does no Cyborg leave Strikeforce’s CBS card? Here’s what we find from MMAJunkie’s rumors section:
- Fedor Emelianenko vs. Brett Rogers
- Jason “Mayhem” Miller vs. Jake Shields (for vacant Strikeforce MW title)
- Champ Gegard Mousasi vs. TBA (for Strikeforce LHW title)
- Fabricio Werdum vs. TBA
- Antonio Silva vs. TBA
- Bobby Lashley vs. TBA
And now for the rumors I’ve been hearing: Fabricio Werdum vs Antonio ‘Bigfoot’ Silva, Gegard Mousasi vs King Mo, and Bobby Lashley vs Ron Waterman. Here’s hoping they start sorting out a few of them because we’re now under a month away and there’s only two fights locked in.
A bout between Erin Toughill and Marloes Coenen would be nice just to see Strikeforce sticking to it’s WMMA guns at least a little but who knows what’ll happen there. Strikeforce has two more shows lined up for November for some reason (it’s like they enjoy trying to juggle too many balls at once or something) so that fight could headline one of those shows maybe? Probably not? Eugh.
