UFC propaganda moves to your email

When I first started getting post-event emails from the UFC, I was kinda surprised. Normally they’re like hookers – they advertise the goods but once they get your money they’re gone, leaving only shame behind. Until the next chance they get to take your money. But I guess someone got hired that realized it’s not enough to just advertise your cards, you gotta advertise the results as well or people won’t know what the fuck went on. Which in turn makes it harder to sell the matchups on the next cards. Pretty smart idea, although I’m not too hot on the bullshit they’re trying to peddle as truth.

The biggest one that jumps out to me is “Jon Fitch Steamrolls Chris Wilson”. I’m not going to deny that Fitch won the fight, but unless Jon gave Chris some tasty chinese steamrolls at the post-fight dinner, the UFC’s statement is absolute bullshit. Of course, when they’re pumping Fitch up for a title shot I guess they can’t really say “Fitch Struggles with UFC Virgin”. Not quite as good of a selling point.

What’s the difference between Fitch and Koscheck?

    Koscheck finishes fights.

the UFC is really going all “Total Information Awareness” on us. Combine the post-even propaganda with the in-event silence about fighters and trainers and orgs they don’t like…it’s kind of lame.
They were totally silent about Matt Lindland, just like they were silent every time Handy showed up in other events.

And how much did we hear about Arlovski, coincidentally in the last fight of his contract? Squat.

They have also been pushing Okami pretty hard post-UFC 82 making it pretty clear Fitch and Okami are likely to get title shots.

I thought it was interesting how the UFC posted an editorial on UFC.com for once as it kind of publicly disclosed their views on UFC 82, something we rarely get to see otherwise. Noting groudbreaking but definitely interesting.

  • Perhaps they realize the best way to beat the MMA websites is to run their own news site properly. Of course that’ll never happen, so we’ll always be fine. And unless Dana hires someone to call him a cocksucker, my niche is safe.

i think we need to work a little harder on dispelling the “omg-streak” shit. fitch is boring and needs to be relegated to fight-night events.. if that.

Who cares if Matt Lindland gets a mention on the broadcast? Guy hasn’t done shit in some time. What are they supposed to say about him? “Oh hey, there’s Matt Lindland. For those of you that have just gotten into mma in the last two years, he used to be a really good fighter.” I heard Charro was in the stands. Why the fuck didn’t they interview her? I’m pissed that they didn’t show the AA fight. Don’t give two shits that Lindland didn’t get a mention. Nothing to say about him.
