UFC production reboot isn’t until January

Sick and tired of Stemm’s “Bring the Pain”? Gladiator sand in your vagina? Can’t wait until the UFC switches up it’s same old same old routine? Well, don’t get too excited for the first UFC on Fox event. We won’t be seeing the much ballyhooed production makeover until 2012:

“We’ll be working with these guys, I love what they do in sports, and to enhance the look and feel of a UFC event.”

The new-look UFC won’t debut at the first UFC on Fox with Cain Velasquez and Junior dos Santos on Nov. 12, however.

“The way that this thing is gonna start is, this thing is gonna be a Fox Sports show, the first fight that we do. The November fight is just a bonus fight,” stated White. “We don’t get into business with Fox until January. So everything will change in January.

“The Fox fight is gonna be different. There are things that we’re doing differently and we need to pull off in that production, but all the big change is happening in January. There is no way in hell I could change everything by November.”

Let’s hope these changes go above and beyond just ditching stuff that was obviously out of date five years ago. Dare we dream of a day where a fight isn’t introduced by black and white vignettes of fighters talking bout how they’re going to kick the other guy’s ass? It’s hard to point towards the smoking crater that is the Japanese MMA scene and say they do anything better, but at least they’ve got some interesting ideas when it comes to putting together intro videos. How hard is it to make a two minute preview designed to hit your fight boner like a triple dose of Viagra?

Now that’s what I’m talking about.
