UFC counter-programs Strikeforce with UFC 100

Dana White seemed pretty salty when he talked to reporters about ‘Strikefarce’ last week, saying “If they want to fight me, we’re gonna fight.” Scott Coker has made it quite clear that he most certainly does NOT want to fight, but that hasn’t kept the UFC from loading the cannons anyways and taking aim at this Saturday’s Cyborg vs Carano card:

Spike TV will present a special cable telecast of some of the most exciting bouts from UFC 100, one of the biggest nights in the history of mixed martial arts, on Saturday, August 15 at 10:00pm-12:30am ET/PT. Featuring Brock Lesnar’s coronation as heavyweight king and Dan Henderson’s must-see knockout over Michael Bisping, the Spike TV telecast marks the first time that bouts from this landmark event will be televised off of Pay-Per-View.

In addition to the three main events, the UFC has also added Stephan Bonnar vs Mark Coleman, Shannon Gurgety vs Matt Grice, and Jon Jones vs Jake O’Brien, three preliminary fights that weren’t aired on the original pay per view. Not a bad way to suck away casual AND hardcore fans away from the Strikeforce show.
