I love when fighters give you the impression that they are leaving the door open, even though they’ve actually left a steaming pile of dog poo, eagerly awaiting to be extinguished by expensive hush puppies.
Case in point: Tito Ortiz. In an interview with MMARated.com, he said that he might return to the UFC if Dana White would make “a public apology for the things that he has done.” He then went on to praise Lorenzo Fertitta for being a good guy, and insisted that the tensions between him and Dana White started rather early, with Dana constantly undercutting him. If there’s a good way to get a guy to apologize to you, it’s definitely by making him seem like a slimy little bastard, no?
He left the interview also claiming that Mark Cuban’s organization is really solid. If that isn’t a clear signal of where he’s jumping ship, I don’t know what is.
On the plus side, it does appear that he’s taking Machida as a serious threat. He didn’t seem to disagree with his overall ranking, and commented that if Machida is undefeated, it must be because he has at least a few tricks up his sleeve. This, combined with the overwhelming urge he must have to leave the UFC with a giant finger in the face of Dana White is the main reason I give him the win. I’m also looking forward to seeing what offensive and censor worthy shirt he’ll put on, regardless of the outcome of the fight. This could also be the only time we see Dana White entering the Octagon and knocking someone out with a chair, ensuing into a giant royal rumble that ends with Dana in a suplex, vowing sweet revenge.
