The UFC is starting to offer stuff through XBox Live

Dana White was at E3 this week and he announced the beginning of a partnership with XBox Live that’ll let us watch PPVs on the console:

“There has never been a better time to be a UFC fan,” White said.

“As you know we deliver the best fights in the world, and now Xbox will revolutionize live events on television. You’ll get all the best fights and compete against your friends, only on Xbox.”

White did not say when the new service would become available, but presumably developments are well past the initial stage if he felt able to make an announcement about it.

Aside from actual live events, Xbox Live users will also be able to access content such as weigh-ins and preview videos.

Being able to buy pay per views over Xbox Live is cool and all, but you know what I want: a UFC version of Netflix where I get access to a massive catalog of fights for ten bucks a month. They’ve already got a gimpy version of this available through their website but the layout stinks and it’s a pain in the ass to find anything.

Plus who wants to watch fights on the computer? XBox is the perfect platform to do this, which should be obvious considering Netflix has added so many subscribers since their console apps that they’ve got more subscribers than Comcast. So when do we get that???

Regardless, you gotta be thrilled w/the current trend from Zuffa of offering free fights on Facebook, YouTube & now Xbox. Only a year or 2 ago, we weren’t getting free ANYTHING for PPV events.

I’ve ordered PPV’s in the past through the UFC channel on my Roku player. The last fight I ordered kept cutting out. I contacted the UFC’s customer service to get my money refunded. They wouldn’t respond to multiple attempts of contacting them. There was nothing that Roku could do since it was the UFC’s content. Clearly it’s just cheaper to illegally stream the fights.

I agree with frick. I don’t know what I ever did without the prelims.

They are slowly moving towards online for PPV’s. We are getting accustomed to going online to watch live streams. We are getting conditioned. Last UFC on Facebook the quality was worse than the other times. Too dependent on other unreliable services to get your product across live online. Can’t have it buffer for 2 minutes ahead of time either cause if we are online, we are in a chat room. Imagine having paid for the stream and someone telling you Machida just karate kid kick KO’ed  Randy or that Chuck was KO’ed for the first time by Rampage before you see it.

^^Uhhhhhh, I’m pretty sure 99.9% of people out there are NOT in fucking chat rooms. My wife looks @ me like a crackhead everytime I’m watching fights while banging away on the laptop to make dick jokes w/you fools.

  • Letibleu says:

Maybe just Brits and Canadians then.

That’s officially gayer than a Blopsing head set.

  • CAP says:

I won’t pay to stream shit cuz I can’t trust it’s reliability. Like Omo end up getting screwed, I’d be pissed. Free is better. I’ve had a solid site for that for the past year. But I pay for the good cards worth watching on the big screen.

  • frickshun says:

Good news Cap–>you’ll be FLIM’ing me that “solid site”……for comparison’s sake, that is!!

  • glassjawsh says:

    ^ this (except to me)

  • Letibleu says:

I have 7 online PPV codes that I won playing UFC poker except the codes they send only work for USA residents. I have been playing email tag trying to get them changed. All the online stuff is handled by a third party company. I wonder what the consumer protection laws are for companies that charge tax for an online product of which they offer no customer service. Best idea I have is to call the credit card company and have the charge cancelled due to them not providing the serice purchased. Fight it out with em after.

  • Reverend Clint says:

you can always give them to me… your best buddy right?

  • frickshun says:

Leti–>Clint calls you a filthy Acadian behind your back. Better off giving them to me….I would only say it your filthy fucking Acadian face!!

  • Reverend Clint says:

no i call him short stuff
