Andrei Arlovski has been a busy boy lately, promoting himself and Day of Reckoning non stop. If he wasn’t already getting ridiculously overpaid, I’d tell Affliction to give that man a raise. Ah hell, who cares? Give him a raise anyways! What’s an extra 100k when you’re losing three to five million bucks an event?
I’m sure you’ve all heard about how Andrei now refers to Tim Sylvia as “pee pee taster”, but that wasn’t the most interesting quote he’s given in the past few days. Here’s the one I’m paying attention to:
“After his loss in the Sambo tournament, I think he’s messed up a little bit,” Arlovski said. “He says it’s not important, but c’mon, let’s be serious. He was unbeatable, like, five years, six years in Sambo, and he’s not beatable in MMA. When you lose something, of course it’s (expletive) important. For me, it’s really hard to believe that he doesn’t care about it. Of course he cares. He’s not like 100 percent sure of himself.”
You can’t really disagree with Arlovski’s assessment. If Fedor really wasn’t concerned over the sambo loss, would he have canceled his media tour so he could concentrate on training for his upcoming fight? I really do wonder how Fedor is dealing with the loss. I’m sure he’s not smashing dishes and slapping around his wife or anything, but it wouldn’t surprise me if there’s some serious turmoil going on behind his perpetually cherub-like facade. The dude has had a rock to lean on in the form of being indestructible for years and years, and now he’s suddenly lost that. It will be interesting to see how he handles that adversity.
