The NSAC ain’t fucking around

Back when the NSAC announced they were gonna start randomly drug testing fighters, I thought it was hella sweet but kinda doubted they were going to do it too often. They started out by announcing they’d be testing Sherk, which seemed like a no-brainer considering he was telling everyone that he was still going to take 1001 supplements and it wasn’t his problem what was in ’em. But then news came out they also tested BJ Penn, and NOW we’ve got them testing Tito Ortiz (he came back clean), and they say they’re gonna follow it up with Lyoto Machida to boot!

I’m sure lots of fighters are starting to piss their pants – if the NSAC tests Jardine or Silva then you’ve pretty much got them setting the precedent that all high profile fights could be tested. If they also throw in a random undercard fighter or two then that pretty much makes the steroid game a very dangerous game to play (where as before it was one only the dumb guys who didn’t cycle that got busted).

I’m very happy to see someone finally deal with the obvious issue of steroids in MMA … it makes me more of a fan of every fighter that comes back clean on these random tests. On the other hand, we’ll see how happy I am when the reality of the new system kicks in and we start seeing fights canceled or big names suspended because they’re getting caught juicing. It’s pretty much inevitable, and I wonder how the media will react if we’re caught in another scandal. We were VERY lucky that no one outside the MMA websites picked up on the whole juicing thing when BOTH fighters in a title match tested positive. Will we be so lucky next time?

So while yeah, it’s great that the NSAC is doing something to actually stop fighters from juicing, I’m still worried that a lot of guys are gonna do it anyways … and get caught.

Well, we can hope that those lot of guys figure it out, and decide to be honest with themselves.

On the flipside, I’d be happy if pro wrestling was completely supplanted with steroids-mandatory MMA, with muscle bound monsters trying to stop from spinning around after a left hook. True freakshows.

  • That was called Pride, man 😉

    aHa ha!

    where’s the rimshot sound effect?

and I didn’t really mean rimjob, I don’t wanna hear wet sucking sounds, and the request to apply more syrup.

I guess BJ must have quit the gange I was surprised to hear he tested clean. I agree that their will be a disaster sooner or later I hope they don’t test Wandy before his fight. I’d give him fifty fifty.

NSAC already tested the main event fighters and a random undercard fighter…

While this is tragic news for fans of the overly-muscled, there is a silver lining: they still can’t detect human growth hormone! Hooray?

    Congrats, Brock!

  • i havent really looked it up, but isnt the HGH quite healthy compared to steroids?

i mean, if it slows aging that much (look at stallone doing rocky and rambo while he’s sixty or something)
i consider taking it when i hit 50 (many yrs from now :p)

Don’t much care – still seems like cheating to me.
