The Incredible Expanding UFC 143 post!

[youtube?wmode=transparent” frameborder=”0″ allowfullscreen>

Nick Diaz’s ‘retirement’ speech. I give it 4 months.

Heavy’s UFC 143 Gallery is up!

And so is Esther Lin’s UFC 143 Gallery as well. This is Dustin Poirier loosening up his opponent’s arm ligaments en route to a Sub of the Night award.

Renan Barao reveals that his fight with Spot Jorgenson almost didn’t happen:

“Actually, I got sick twice. At first I had a problem in the throat, with fever and I went to Rio de Janeiro train. Missing 15 days to fight again had the same problem in the throat, and Dede (Pederneiras) told me that if I did not train well next week, would be better to cancel the fight, and leave for later. But I wanted to fight anyway, and thankfully it worked.”

Beating Jorgenson is impressive all on it’s own, let alone after a training camp screwed up by sickness.

MMA Fighting has a collection of fighter reactions from the Condit / Diaz match. Based on media reaction you can put most of them into the ‘idiots that don’t understand the sport’ pile because the majority thought Diaz won that fight.

The slap.

Gifs are up at Iron Forges Iron!

Here’s hoping the UFC manages to get some of these amazing highlights onto sports shows around the world. Every event is a goldmine of martial arts bad-assery.

It’s gonna be hard for any website to top this headline.

Bloody Elbow gets us the scorecard. For ye sad souls with impaired vision, here’s the scores written out:

  • Judge Cecil Peoples had it: 10-9, 10-9, 9-10, 10-9, 10-9 for Condit.
  • Judge Patricia Morse Jarman had it: 10-9, 10-9, 9-10, 10-9, 10-9 for Condit.
  • Judge Junichiro Kamijo had it 10-9, 9-10, 10-9, 10-9, 9-10 for Condit.

Key stats takeaway from this fight from Josh Gross:

Per @Compustrike: Condit outlanded Diaz 146-110. Diaz 86 arm strikes to Condit’s 42. Condit’s 104 kicks to Diaz’s 19.

Remember when Carlos Condit’s camp said they’d be interested in fighting again before the GSP match in the fall? Well, how about a rematch against Nick Diaz? ESPN’s Brett Okamoto gets Lorenzo Fertitta’s thoughts:

Just spoke to @lorenzofertitta. He said @CarlosCondit has definitely earned title shot/right to wait for GSP. No rematch. @lorenzofertitta told me GSP was upset and wanted him to make rematch but he said, “I can’t do that to Carlos.”

They already screwed him once when they traded him out of the GSP title fight. Making him fight Nick Diaz AGAIN? Man. It’s justifiable in the sense that it was a controversial decision in an extremely close fight, but it just seems wrong considering everything.

Dana White just said that Anderson Silva vs Chael Sonnen 2 has been verbally agreed to for June. Chael will finally head down to Brazil to have his steak medium rare.

Here’s Fightmetric’s raw breakdown of the strikes situation.

I’ve never understood why Ryan doens’t like doing event coverage.  It seems like the best way to drive traffic for a site like this.  Even the staff picks were something.

  • iamphoenix says:

him and jake have to join forces again. it’s our only hope.

  • Remico says:

We have a nwe rule in place for chat tonight, anyone making any jokes whatsoever gets banned.

Fortunately Ryan will never break this rule so all will remain calm.

    ok what the fuck

  • Jemaleddin says:

Man, if there’s anything better than fake-ass gangsters losing, it’s probably fake-ass gangsters turning into total fucking babies when they lose.

And if there’s anything better than that? RAGE-RETIREMENT.

I’ve never loved Carlos Condit as much as I do today. BLESS YOU CARL CONDUCT!

Don’t know how the judges all gave Condit the last round…

  • glassjawsh says:

Diaz won the first two. condit 3 and 4. Diaz the 5th.

I dont care to argue. its just one mans (sober) interpretation

  • glassjawsh says:

still waiting on Derek’s retirement announcement after he bitched out on making good on his bet….

  • Reverend Clint says:

im with the judges… diaz sucks

  • scissors61 says:

At the beginning of the fifth nate told him you are winning 3-1 and after nick mentioned he wouldve went for it more if he knew he was behind, frustrating stuff.

That is the definition of point-fighting, Mr. “MMA is being ruined wahhhh!” Seriously, the level of butthurt from Diaz fans is incredible. Diaz’s style got exposed and his inability to adjust beyond ratcheting up trash-talk showed a complete lack of adaptability. For a guy who’s supposedly one of the most well-rounded fighters in the sport he sure looked like a one-trick pony to me.

  • Night Rider says:

Apparently I need to be lumped into the crazy bin, I had it for diaz 4-1 but at the very least he Won rounds 1,2, and 5.

Fuck off if this is the future of mma. how in the fuck did most people who scored the fight for carlos give him round five, when the closest the fight came to being finished was in that round by diaz. (Dana Included)

At the beginning of the fifth nate told him you are winning 3-1 and after nick mentioned he wouldve went for it more if he knew he was behind, frustrating stuff.

Also how do you take two points from one guy for accidentally kicking a guys balls,(which happens all the time due to the leg riding up even when unintentional) See gsp vs hughes. and not take a point from Koscheck who decides he wants to stuff takedowns early with his fingernails in a dudes eyeball. I like Herb dean for the most part but cmon.

Either way War Diaz, and holy shit can Man Mountain Roy take a beating.

  • Night Rider says:

Oh yeah all those times Nick bounced his fucking head off the cage, that mustve been point fighting, But whooooaaah watch out for those leg kicks.

    Get real

And thank you for posting the above gif I was failing at posting it as I suck at computers.

  • scissors61 says:

Nick certainly wasn’t throwing bombs out there and looking to finish. The only time he ever came close to looking like finishing was at the ass end of the 5th round. Bottom line is Nick’s whole waving his arms/trash-talking thing didn’t work and he couldn’t adjust. He got kicked to shit and couldn’t do anything about it, so that’s on him. It’s not Carlos’s fault he’s the smarter, quicker, better fighter and Nick couldn’t do anything about it. Diaz had nothing. People will whine to the end of days about Garcia getting decisions based off of walking into strikes and being “aggressive” but when Diaz does it that’s just fine because of his cult of personality. What a load of crap.

  • agentsmith says:

Werdum pulls the old “hey, what’s that?” trick:

  • G-ranical says:

We need the video of Joe Rogan on FX with Dana White hyping the fight like a maniac with Dana cracking a smile and Goldberg commenting on it afterwards.

    Get on it.

    “You’re my boy blue”

  • scissors61 says:

Word, I thought Rogan was about to have a heart attack.

  • Reverend Clint says:

condit did what he wanted so in my book dictated the fight and in all but one round outstruck diaz. Diaz did have 2 takedowns though if you enjoy gay sex.

  • matthewpolly says:

Diaz was more aggressive. Condit was smarter. On the cards, I would have given it to Diaz because I thought he won 1,2, & 5. But overall, Condit scored more and was more effective as a counter striker. It was a very close fight and Diaz’s face looked like someone who had been in a fight not a track meet. Greg Jackson proved again he’s the best tactician in MMA and also raises the question: how does he coach GSP vs Condit?

  • MPL says:

    People defending Diaz are retards.

    That’s all.

  • DJ ThunderElbows says:

Diaz did not have the footwork to land and Condit did.  I was pulling for Nick but he didn’t deserve to win that fight if he can only strike stationary or in straight lines.

Neat fight.  Looking forward to the GSP match.

  • Letibleu says:

    GSP left Jacksons.

  • Symbul says:

Everyone bitching about Condit “running” is a butthurt little Diaz fanboy, no two ways about it.

Nice to see the “OMG Greg Jackson ruins fights!11!” trolls crawling out of their lairs once again. Nick got outstruck, fucking simple as that.

The worst part is the idiots talking about how Diaz was always coming forward and “controlling the cage”. If you walk up to a guy and he punches you and circles out, you’re not controlling shit. I wonder how these same people would apply their brilliant logic to someone taking top control but warding off sub attempts the whole time. That’s “cage control”, right? Fucking hell, MMA fans sometimes.

Not that this wasn’t a close, competitive fight. It was. Totally. But Nick Diaz just brings out the crazy somehow.

  • glassjawsh says:

someone tell joe silva to make Stephen Thompson vs Erick Silva in Sao Paulo

    like right now

    no seriously right now

    do it

  • noiseless says:

nick’s taunts and condit’s flashy boring kicks got old, real fast. too bad nick can’t be slick, and condit is a BETCH!

  • Letibleu says:

    Left a message

  • frickshun says:

I hope someone more motivated than me can round up all the Cruz bashing comments after his fights. I’m pretty sure there are a lot of hypocritical motherfuckers on here running their yaps. Condit employed the EXACT same gameplan as Cruz. It worked by frustrating & then outpointing Diaz. I had it 48-47 Condit. Bear in mind, he had very little power on his strikes & I don’t count leg kicks as meaningfully as punches unless they’re brutal.

  • Jarman says:

I had it 48-47 condit. He kept mobile, slipped damage often, and surprised diaz with combos and good timing. Condit outpunched the volume puncher. Diaz coulda adjusted, and quit charging forward and countered. He started doing that midway, landed a few, then proceeded to march forward. This was not a screwjob, this was the rare case of accurate judging. Ineffective aggression loses to effective countering. Go figure. Don’t like it? go watch x-arm.

Condit landed some pretty interesting combos throughout. Not packing the most power, but well timed, and well executes. That Left jab, left leg kick, right high kick combo he caught diaz with looked so awkward, but the surprise on diaz face was money.

Diaz fought hard, but his style got pegged, he got out tactic’d. shit happens. Sometimes you run into someone with equal cardio, someone who can outstrike your single dimension striking. But then he pulls that little bitch move? “I lost, I’m not playing anymore!” Fucking pathetic. I’m glad for condit that he won, but I was really hoping to see GSP vs Diaz. Oh well, GSP’ll take out condit (in 5 rounds), by then Diaz’ll wake the fuck up, and we’ll get to see that fight too.

  • P W says:

I have no problems whatsoever with Condit winning that fight. I did however get upset by the moron at Yahoo Sports who called the fight “a UFC classic”. My expectations went up way too high.

  • Trol says:

I guess aggression and octagon control doesn’t count in the score cards. Condit ran most of the fight. Diaz should have just walked into the middle of the Octagon and stood there.

Doesn’t really matter, GSP will lay-and-pray both of them to a snoozefest.

  • CAP says:

Yeah fight was kinda a letdown as I was expecting more of a WOAR!! I have no problems with Condit getting the win as it was close but still way more interested in a Diaz/GSP fight.

As a fighter if you hear Cecil Peoples is one of the judges you better handle it on your own.

  • P W says:

Common now, surely aggression/the willingness to deliver damage cannot trump ACTUAL damage delivered? No doubt Diaz wanted to hurt Condit, but he couldn’t. Intentions are important, but not more important than actions.

  • Reverend Clint says:

    ^hahaha very true

  • OlyReigns says:

Octagon control is keeping the fight where you want it to be. condit wanted to land kicks and counter-strikes from the outside. Thats what he did and clearly won.

  • Thanks for your personal marvelous posting! I quite enjoyed

Whats up this is kind of of off topic but I was wanting to know if blogs use WYSIWYG editors or if you have to manually code with HTML.

I’m starting a blog soon but have no coding knowledge so I wanted to get advice from someone with experience. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
