The IFL is so damn stupid

We know … it seems like every IFL related blog we write is called ‘The IFL is dumb’ or something similar. But that’s only because every other day they announce more fucking stupid news. Like today:

The International Fight League (OTC.BB: IFLI – News), the world’s number one team-based professional mixed martial arts league, and YouTube, the world’s leading video sharing Website, today announced a video sharing partnership designed to expose IFL content to a larger worldwide audience.

IFL short form videos are already some of the highest volume sports pieces on YouTube, with in excess of over one million views in recent months. This partnership is expected to significantly increase that potential audience.

I swear to god that Gareb Shamus puts out a press release every time he takes a shit. The fact that they’re ‘teaming up with google’ to show videos on Youtube and use adsense is underwhelming to say the least. Also worth noting is the bullshit they write about their vids being ‘some of the highest volume sports pieces on YouTube’.

To put things in context, lets take a look at the MMA related videos I’ve put up on Youtube and Dailymotion: Rich Franklin sees his own death, K1 Dynamite sucked balls, HEROs gong show, and Michael Bisping knew he lost (which was deleted, fascist fuckers). Total number of viewers over the past 3 months: 280,000.

Now lets take a look at the IFL’s videos. The official uploader of IFL vids is JoshIFL and he’s got 203 videos, most of which don’t even have 1000 views. The highest views on a fight related video is 35,000 for the Pat Miletich / Renzo Gracie video. In fact, if you add up ALL of the fight-related IFL videos, it adds up to 267,000 views.

That’s right … my four shitty videos have more views than all the IFL fights on Youtube. And that’s not me tooting my horn : That’s me saying “Wow, that’s pretty sad.”

But don’t just use me as a meter stick! Just to show you how little people care, check out the pathetic numbers the IFL is pulling on fights that should be getting good views:

  • Last week’s Bart Palaszewski vs.Chris Horodecki fight : 669 views
  • Last week’s Alex Schoenauer vs. Vladdy Matyushenko : 518 views
  • Carlos Newton vs. Matt Lindland : 1258 views
  • Renzo Gracie Vs. Igor Zinoviev : 1718 views
  • Ben Rothwell vs Ricco Rodriguez: : 3726 views

Anyways, just thought I’d point out that the IFL gets less views than people like The Garv. And they smell bad. The End.

I especially like their boast “the world’s number one team-based professional mixed martial arts league” – my, that really is something to be proud of! That’s on par with bragging about having a tiny penis or being proud of the fact that you’ve beaten every Zelda game ever released.

  • stellar53 says:

Hey, what is wrong with beating every Zelda game ever released?

  • I have a friend who’s made me watch him beat Link to the Past in an hour three times in a row. Mind you we were high out of our minds. But still….

  • Swedish guy says:

A link to the past is one of the most awesome games ever made. When I went to the Joystick 2.0 concert the other night, and Malmoe Symphony orchestra played the Nintendo-medley, including Zelda theme, it gave me chills to the point where I thought I’d start crying. Nothing has touched me like that since I saw BJ Penis kiss Matt Huge.
I guess you won’t understand the swedish shit, but check out the playlist:

absurd marketing/press-release terminology aside, I think it’s smart to utilize youtube (since IFL is still a new brand trying to establish itself), especially if the UFC is going to jihad the entire internets.

“especially if the UFC is going to jihad the entire internets.”

What? Jihad – holy war— Internets, meaning two or more. So when did I miss the press release that the UFC declared a Holy war on the Internet?

I think the IFL is having growing pains. I think the problem is they want to move into a more traditional MMA format, which is obvious from the fact they are handing out belts and doing their best to put the belts on they guys they think are most marketable. I gotta give’em credit for trying. However in the same turn they are likely worried about turning off the fans they have made with the team format. Sure theres not a ton of them, but you don’t want to cast off your only fan base for a move that may not payoff.

I think they’ve got the network TV deal- they need a hype man, someone to get people excited about the crap they put on. Even when the UFC turns out a crappy card they Hype the hell out of it. In fact I say you see more hype for the crappy cards in the past then the good ones. So love’em or hate’em Dana White knows how to get your casual MMA fan excited– even when theres not much to be excited about.

  • kermit : here’s where they declared war on the internets:

Gareb”s pretty much sniffing the glue at this point.

Signs IFL to Youtube for a TNA-like miracle.

Took his magazine which was making a comeback in journalism on the comics field and has made it a geek version of Maxim, putting it back as the worse comic magazine in the field.

Most the people who made the magazine competent were canned for less experianced people and those who are still around are just phoning it in until their contracts expire.

Trying to revive his last failed venture, Inked, the small press comic magazine, but the only small press comic celebraties he knows is Jeff Smith, Kevin Smith, Brian Woods and anyone who can draw zombies or big tits.

    Gareb’s all messed up.

I would say that the IFL is the #2 team-based MMA organization in the world. From what I hear, MTL from Brazil is pretty dang good…so there.

I’m all for fed bashing but your Youtube stats are way off. I just sorted “IFL” tagged videos by view count (yes, I have nothing better to do). And there are 2 joshIFL vids over 100,000 views and a 3rd pretty close at 97k.

I think fightlinker may have pulled a Kevin Iole on us and changed the numbers to suit his needs..

  • kermit.01 says:

To prove I have less of a life than you the total views when sorted by count just from the first two pages total 988,812 – with 9 pages left currently at 1:26pm EST

fightlinker is correct, the three videos that don’t suck ass view wise are a Dear Don, which shouldn’t surprise anyone considering Don Frye’s awesomeness, ring girls, and the shamrocks being idiots. If you ask me, none of those are actually fight related.

  • Yeah, I was only counting the actual fight videos when adding totals.

  • Jaiden says:

As a MMA fan I like to watch fights, almost regardless of the venue.
The IFL has a lot of improvements it needs to make, but beyond my cable fees there is no extra cost. These organizations do not have over a decade of experience like the UFC and will make mistakes. But I like the fact that they are there and can help put pressure on the UFC..

As far as YouTube and the IFL, I am going over there to check it out now.

  • Xavier says:

“But don’t just use me as a meter stick! Just to show you how little people care, check out the pathetic numbers the IFL is pulling on fights that should be getting good views”

And sadly, the number of people watching on YouTube, while low, is still more than watch IFL Battleground.

  • Mr. Theplague says:

    kermit, lurkmore.

  • Mobb Deep says:

If the IFL got a cage instead of that lame ass ring (only PRIDE made a ring look awesome) I might watch it. Until then, I will continue to avoid it.

  • Ason says:

man that Rich Franklin sees his own death
    was awesome.

    How come no follow up?

  • Because the vids take a few hours to do and usually get taken down by the UFC so i’ve sorta stopped doing them for now. maybe i’ll do another one soon
