The Happy Hour Episode 74: Awesome UFC / Terrorist Killin’ Weekend

This week on the Happy Hour, Derek and Ryan go over the UFC 129 main card and a bunch of the stories coming out of it. Georges St Pierre’s performance is graded / degraded, we debate whether Jake Shields sucked or rocked, and discussed what’s next for Mister GSP. Mark Hominick proves Ryan wrong, Jose Aldo has an off night, and Steven Seagal’s continued influence in MMA scares us all. As well, will Dana White and Showtime sort things out so Georges can fight Nick Diaz??? The only way to know is to listen to this show! Okay, I’m lying. We have no idea either. 60 minutes of Happy Hour goodness.

*whistles innocently* why, whatever are you talking about, Derrick?

If I say I like this one, will I get stonned?

^ Added to the collection.  Keep em comin.  And for the record what was I wrong about this time?

Haven’t listened yet, and I’m sure you said something I’ll disagree with, but I think you’re confused.  I’m one of the few that has publicly stated that I like you on the podcasts.  At least when there’s a back and forth and you guys challenge each other’s opinions.

  • Grappo says:

subo – “you jackals were always the first people that hated me en masse”

ryan – “I don’t know, I think Bloody Elbow people were.  We liked you over on Fightlinker, and the people on Bloody Elbow that didn’t like you, they started migrating over to Fightlinker and bringing the hate.”

I think Ryan’s got it closer to right.  I came to Fightlinker (from 5 oz of Pain)  during the whole GreaseGate thing.  I think it was because Ryan posted that Mayhem interview with Fight Magazine where he implied GSP greased in their fight… ANYWAY,  didn’t have a problem with subo as far as I can remember.  Then I went to Bloody Elbow a couple of months later.  Subo made that site unbearable.  I didn’t think it possible that any person could be so obnoxious, have such manic motivation and the infinite amount of free time to reply to nearly every single comment that he could possibly respond to with a smart-ass snarky remark.  To make a comment on that site was to invite subo to tell you how dumb you were for thinking something he disagreed with.  I don’t think I even started posting there until after he got banned.  I saved an image of the thread where he came back as ‘GhostOfSubo’ after being banned and went batshit fucking crazy.  I seriously thought he was some crazy OCD motherfucker that lived in his mom’s basement and whose entire reason for being was to have arguments online.  Then, a couple days later, Ryan made him a writer here on FL,  and I thought FUUUUUUUCK.  I liked this site and now it was going to suck.   Even though he’d started to calm down a bit, the strong e-hatred I’d developed for subo took a good while to subside.  I’d be willing to bet that a lot of people developed some strong opinions of him based his BE persona that persist to this day.  Yes subo, you were THAT much of an asshole.

it is now, yeah, but back then it wasn’t.  they were breaking a lot of stories (and manufacturing a few too iirc)  I like BE.  FL and BE are pretty much the only MMA sites I go to.  FL for some news, podcasts,  and the funny, BE for ALL the news.  I don’t understand how people can visit all these different sites every day.  That shit is time consuming.

haha, i’ll have to find it.  no idea what I named it or where I put it.  It was some epic shit-losing though, wasn’t it
