When Strikeforce announced Babalu vs Bobby Southworth for their light heavyweight belt, I cared so little that I didn’t even bother to blog about it. As far as I was concerned, there was no fight that could possibly be less exciting than that.
Well, I was wrong. Because now Southworth is out with a knee injury and Anthony Ruiz is stepping in, which doesn’t even register one giger of interest on my give-a-shit-o-meter. I suppose now there’s a much better chance that this shit won’t go to a terrible 5 round decision, but who really gets excited about the prospect of maybe seeing Babalu trounce some journeyman?
This is just another scoop of poop ice cream on the Strikeforce at the mansion card, that just to remind everyone is less than a month away. Look at this:
Renato Babalu Sobral vs. Anthony Ruiz
Josh Thomson vs Ashe Bowman (non-title)
Kazuo Misaki vs. Joe Riggs
Billy Evangelista vs. TBA
Corey Devela vs. Terry Martin
I guess Misaki vs Riggs will be okay if Riggs manages to be cleared for the fight. Oh, and if his back doesn’t explode like a cheap Christmas firecracker in the first 5 minutes. But past that, what exactly is there to look forward to?
