After watching Mauricio “Shogun” Rua flail around in the cage at UFC 93, I had a hard time thinking what the fuck the UFC was gonna do with the guy (past fire the guy, that is). But the answer was very clear to Joe Silva and Dana White: feed him to Chuck Liddell. It’s a simple and elegant solution … the two were supposed to fight at UFC 85, Shogun still has name value despite his last two shit-tastic performances, and Liddell needs a soft rebound that will get him back on track. Everyone wins! Except Shogun if he shows up looking like he did last night.
As an added extra bonus to me, the fight is gonna take place at UFC 97 in Montreal. That takes a certain amount of sting out of the fact that Thales Leites is gonna headlining the card alongside Anderson Silva. Between these two fights, it makes me feel like I’m not getting Dublin’d or London’d by the UFC.
