Sean Sherk is still an idiot

The more Sean Sherk talks about his ‘bogus’ steroids situation, the more I want to punch him in the face. Today he reiterated his dumbass position that he should be allowed to take whatever supplements he wants and if they’ve got steroids in them, that isn’t his problem:

He said a glucosamine supplement he took was later found to be contaminated with a testosterone booster. But he said if that’s how the steroid got into his body, he can’t understand how he should be held responsible for it.

“Even if it was a tainted supplement, I had no intentions of taking it and it was somebody else’s error,” Sherk said. “I think they should be at fault rather than me. Contamination of supplements is an issue. There have been people who have tested positive in the past for that reason, but I don’t think the fighter should be held responsible. It’s not the fighter’s fault.”

For someone who’s apparently paranoid about what goes into his body, Sean sure doesn’t seem to care that much about the fact that there’s a good amount of unmarked and illegal substances in his supplements.

There’s that gay old saying “Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me” which I think applies to this situation perfectly. Sherk now IMPLICITLY KNOWS that supplements as a whole have a problem with being tainted and containing illegal substances. As far as he’s concerned, it’s not his problem. Which is about as dumb as can get.

Hey, I don’t really give a shit what happens to Sherk as a result of his retarded world views. But if he beats BJ Penn down the road and wins the title back, and THEN TESTS POSITIVE FOR STEROIDS AGAIN, I am going to go absolutely batshit insane.

You can’t punch someone in the face if you’re laying on your back with a giant midget on top of you, I learned that the hard way.

  • AJB says:

I thought that the new, post-GWB quote was: “Fool me once, shame on you… fool me twice… not gonna get fooled again!”

  • Throken says:

    What a fucking retard.

  • Tanner says:

I’m seriously sick of this dude, for one he’s a human blanket and never comes anywhere close to finishing his fights. Sure he can dry hump any competitor in the lightweight division to a boring decision victory but apparently he can’t do it without taking 1500+ supplements. I can’t wait until he finally fucking drops this.

  • Xavier says:

Such bullshit that they lessened his suspension. They should’ve slapped another year on it.

  • Cyrus says:

No. You’re wrong here. Supplements are not regulated by the FDA, and should be. Since they’re not, they get tainted and all kinds of bullshit put in them. Your idea that supplements are bad as a whole and people shouldn’t take them makes no sense. That’s stupid. Guys like Sherk shouldn’t be held responsible in the case of contaminated supplements. There should be a system to make sure supplement manufacturers pay heavy for taint. Not being true to your ingredients can kill people.

  • Swedish guy says:

    I hate that Sherk dude.

  • ttt says:

cyrus … the FDA is already busy enough with real medecines, it doesn’t have the resources to look at supplements. supplements by nature are unregulated as such it is down to the person using them to check that they are ok.
sherk who claims to check everything that goes into his body is a liar, they should bump his suspension back to a year, so at least we won’t have to hear him bitch or watch him lay and pray

  • Beau says:

A condition of Sherks employment is that he can pass a steroid test. If taking supplements causes him to fail his steroid tests, then he needs to do something different. Him saying its not his fault is bullshit. Look at it this way. I have to pass a drug test to work at my job. I love brownies. The place I get my brownies from all the time has crazy chefs and their brownies come out tainted with weed 1 out of 1000 times. I know this and I still eat their brownies anyways. If I fail a drug test for eating a tainted brownie then its my fault for knowingly eating these possibly tainted brownies.
Its all a moot point anyways though because Sherk didn’t find any Nandolone contamination in any of his supplements, so maybe if he cuts the steroid needles to the ass out of his training regiment then he wont test positive for steroids any more.

  • There’s also a bunch of supplement companies that guarantee no crossovers and such. GNC brand is guaranteed safe.

I also don’t disagree that an athlete should be able to sue a supplement company for tainted supplements. But above all else, athletes know that there’s an issue with supplements and need to make decisions based on that.

  • Rxj25 says:

The supplement was supposedly tainted with androstendione, which is a pro-hormone but does not convert to nandralone (19-norandrostendione will). Marc Jacobs should have done a little research before trying that defense. Also, Sherk claims that the machine used to test his urine was tainted by other fighter’s urine that had tested positive. However, did any of the other fighters test positive for nandralone that night? Do any of Sherk’s excuses have any merit whatsoever?
