Jeremy Horn is off September’s UFC Fight Night with a wrist injury. Interestingly enough the UFC has decided to replace him with Ryan Jensen:
Jensen, meanwhile, will return to the octagon for his third shot at a UFC victory. The Omaha-based fighter posted a stellar 11-1 record to earn an invitation to the UFC, but he was dropped by the organization after first-round submission losses to Thales Leites and Demian Maia. Since then, he suffered a first-round TKO loss to Joey Villasenor at a Strikeforce/EliteXC show, but he’s rebounded for first-round TKO victories over Mitch Whitesel and Aaron Praschak.
I have no idea what Jensen has done to deserve a return to the Octagon but I have to figure it involved his lips and lube more than his fight record. He got iced quite convincingly in all three of his fights against decent competition. There are scores of guys who do very well indeed against the dopes down at Big Bob’s MMA Challenge who HAVEN’T already blown their chance at the big leagues. Why they’d bring back Jensen when there’s tons of other people out there working hard for a shot in the UFC is simply beyond me.
