People are on drugs

No, not the fighters this time. MMA sports writers, who sometimes read more like cheerleaders than reporters. True or false:

In his most recent fight, Gouveia faced off against the highly touted Jason Lambert. He passed his test with flying colors, knocking out Lambert in the second round to secure a place for himself in the list of top contenders at 205 pounds.

Flying colors? Gouveia was getting his ass handed to him by Lambert … it was only Jason’s retardo striking that resulted in him dropping the bout. In the end Gouveia winning had a lot more to do with Lambert fucking up than anyone ‘passing a test with flying colors’. Later in the article, Gouveia expresses surprise that he’s stuck fighting a UFC virgin for his next fight and not someone in belt contention. To me, it makes perfect sense. He didn’t pass the Lambert test with flying colors. He was lucky to pass it at all. And I very much doubt he’s in anyone’s list of top contenders at 205 pounds.

The KO of Lambert was impressive but his performance wasen’t. The UFC is doing him favor of not giving him anyone contendors

to me this is very similar treatment to huerta’s win over guida. he wasn’t dominating, or even very competitive scoring-wise…clay was on his way to an easy decision win. same with jason…if he’d had standard boxing D he’d have most likely beaten gouveieiaiia.

of course it’s all speculation. but wilson was definitely not winning on the cards in that fight.

He’s in my list – but it’s a long list. Towards the bottom are Chip and Dale, Pippi Longstocking, and Sean Salmon.

Didn’t anybody learn from Keith Jardine? Never publicly sell your mysterious, hard-hitting opponent short.

  • garth says:

it’s weird by houston alexander is like “the guy everyone wants to forget”…no one who supports jardine wants to count him as a real fight…

    Best. Comment. Ever.

The same kind of people were heralding Jake O’Brien as a contender after he sat on Heath Herring for three rounds.

  • lay-and-pound says:

He’s 4-1 in the UFC, with that one loss being a really close decision to Keith Jardine in his UFC debut. I think anyone with a record like that should be built up.

He knocked out Lambert who had just knocked out Babalu. The LW division is not that stacked, and Wilson should be being directed towards a title shot.

  • JackalAss says:

“The LW division is not that stacked, and Wilson should be being directed towards a title shot.”

The LW division IS stacked, but you’re not talking about that. The LHW division is also stacked, with Wilson being founf down among the bottom of the top contenders. He’s nowhere near a title shot, or even a number 1 contender’s spot. If he gets through his upcoming fight with a W, then maybe put him up against one of the top 5 LHW’s. Then maybe consider him for a number 1 spot….but that’d take some pretty fucked up happenings in the next little while.

On the topic of what the writers are taking….I want what they had…….then I might be able to enjoy DREAM3

    😛

    Wait ok check this

But goviea looked preety clean in the jardine fight but chuck well yea allbad now lambert beat babalu and babalu is badass but lambert lost to evans in my opinion evans vs. Goviea should be next yup

  • Popetastic says:

Yeah, I’m gonna have to agree with JackalAss here. Nine out of the 10 guys on MMAWeekly’s top 10 are employed by the UFC, including the entire top eight.

    😀 me too

  • Captain says:

Am fallin asleep at work and some drugs would be great right about now.

Oh yeah, fuck Lambert. He and David Heath should fight to see who the best arrogant douchbag 205er is. Hopefully they will both somehow lose in spectacular fashion and get booted from the UFC. Next, I could only hope that some org would put on a Babalu/Lambert rematch so that Babalu could beat that ass.

  • Agreed about certain sites sucking cock of fighters and or promotions. It pisses me off. You don’t need to hype something if it can hype itself. If it can’t, can it. No one would want to know about it anyway.

    heath’s already gone

FYI, nog-mir for the next TUF according to meltzer

So, is Nog gonna be speaking portuguese and getting subtitled, or marblemouth mcmumble-fuck engloguese?

I have to say though, that’s gonna be one hell of a fight…..both their jits are so good, and both of their hands are underrated when they have the confidence to use them. Nog by rolling, tumbling, stumbling decision.

  • Popetastic says:

Another excruciatingly long belt tie-up situation. Great.
