I could’ve spent this pre-sleep article waxing rhapsodic on how much of a flopper Koscheck is. That knee (while clearly illegal and, in my view, thrown with no regard for the rules against it) touched his hair if it ever touched anything. But no! Instead, I get to focus on the guy that I wanted to win (not that I picked, but that I was rooting for) doing the single most tasteless, crass, irresponsible, cowardly, pussy-ass bitch move I’ve ever seen in mixed martial arts.
Ok, maybe Gilbert Yvel laying out that referee was worse. But I didn’t want to see him get licensed, either.
This isn’t faking the fist touch before unloading a la Manvel. This isn’t – and this is bad and should be investigated/punished – faking an illegal shot during a fight (seriously though, that is a controversy separate from the one I’m bitching about here). This was waiting until the fight was over, hiding behind Big Dan, pretending to go in for the traditional ‘good show’ congrats and then FIRING A LEFT HOOK WITH THE INTENT TO INJURE. That’s assault, and I wouldn’t fault Kos or the AC one bit for looking into pressing charges. That shit was Little League, Paul, and I hope you never get another chance to do it in the Octagon.
Best of luck finding another way to pay for those fucked-up teeth of yours.
He’s done. I don’t give a shit if he’s the best 170-pounder in the world. He’ll never come back here again. I’m probably the most lenient guy in sports. And this is probably one of the most lenient organizations. We’re all human, we all mistakes, things happen. There’s no excuse for that. These guys are professional athletes. You don’t ever hit a guy blatantly after the bell like that whether you’re frustrated or not. It was probably one of the dumbest things I’ve ever seen. I don’t care if he fights in every show all over the world and becomes the best and everybody thinks he’s the pound-for-pound best in the world. He will never fight in the UFC ever again.
Kimbo got cut, too.
