No self-love for Gray Maynard

It looks like Gray Maynard didn’t manage to get out of his fight against Frankie Edgar completely unscathed: he broke his hand while beating on his opponent for three rounds. Good news is this wasn’t a Rampage-style broken hand, and he’s only on the shelf for 4-6 weeks. Considering most guys are only getting booked every 3-4 months, I doubt this means we’ll be getting much a delay in seeing Maynard return to the octagon.

By beating Frankie Edgar, Maynard pushed himself up into the clusterfuck of potential lightweight title contenders. The list seems to be getting longer and longer every event, since Joe Silva doesn’t seem to want to book the contenders against eachother to work out a solid next opponent for the winner of Sherk / Penn.

And that’s why the little guys kick ass. There’s someone for everyone.

Maynard still has a long way to go to secure a title shot.
Especially since Gray is trained at Xtreme Couture.

I would like to point out that I have a giant F*&K YOU to all the people who called me crazy when I picked Gray to win.
Hey FL, what do you make of Marcus Aurelio? If he beats Griffin I see him making a run at the belt….He was pretty good in pride if I recall…

It be interesting to know if Edgar trained his wrestling for his fight with Maynard. When Koscheck got out wrestled by GSP, he had assumed his wrestling was better.
