Nick Diaz get fucked over by THE MAN

Sometimes stories just write themselves: Nick Diaz gets taken off the EliteXC / Strikeforce card for ‘unknown reasons’, and everyone has a good laugh joking about it being weed related. And then we find out that IT WAS WEED RELATED. And we all laugh our fucking asses off about that and call Diaz a stupid stoner. But now the facts are coming out and the story looks more like another chapter in the California State Athletic Commission’s ‘Wheel of Time” length book on being total fucking retards:

Showing little restraint, Shaw contradicted CSAC executive director Armando Garcia’s assertion that Diaz’s medicals were late. According to Shaw, Diaz was the first fighter on the card to have his medicals submitted. Shaw said that Diaz was apparently cleared either two or two and a half weeks ago.

In taking Diaz off the card, Shaw said that Garcia had “overstepped” his bounds. He stated that Diaz was never tested for drugs and never tested positive. Shaw added that Garcia is not currently taking his calls.

Diaz himself made an appearance and addressed the fighters and media. He issued a heartfelt apology for not being able to appear as scheduled. He clarified his position by indicating that he was only being honest with the commission, and that he has legal permission to use the marijuana to treat Attention Deficit Disorder and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder conditions. Diaz informed the audience that it was his intent to test clean.

That last sentence is the most important one: Nick Diaz was ready to pass his drug test. It blows my mind that the CSAC would decide without any debate to just disallow the fight from happening. And it blows my mind that the CSAC is still able to blow my mind after all the other stupid shit they’ve done. So kudos to them for once again upping the ante on this one.

Just for clarification here, because I’m sure there will be a hearty debate in the comments section between smokers and non-smokers … I’m not a big pot smoker (except when on Lifer’s couch watching Andy Hug axe kick a bitch). But you really have to feel for Nick Diaz right now … the dude is like Pot Jesus, getting crucified for the sins of all stoners (appropriate timing too, huh?).

I think it’s kinda stupid that pot is on the banned substance list, but since it is I’ll play along and say okay, if you get caught then slap on the wrist and who cares. But to go to this extent to ‘catch’ and punish Nick Diaz is absolutely retarded. The CSAC is no stranger to just making shit up as they go along, and as usual they’re doing a terrible job of it. In this case, it looks like Armando Garcia just looked at the paperwork Diaz submitted way back on March 10th and made the decision that Diaz’s prescription was bullshit. Since he’s the GOD OF MMA in California, he decided he would not stand for it. Asshole.

I don’t smoke pot but it’s stupid how the CSAC won’t let Nick Diaz fight despite having a legal perscription for Marijuana. Andy Garcia should follow the law and not impose his own judgment on Nick Diaz. The doctor giving the prescription knows more about the medicinal benefits of marijuana than Garcia does so who is he to say that Diaz’s prescription is bullshit?

  • Footer says:

Dude, you know that prescription is bullshit. Diaz has been talking about smoking pot for years and never mentioned ADD. He just used it as an excuse so he can get away with smoking weed. And the CSAC’s point is that these things need to be submitted way in advance of the fight so they can investigate if the prescription is bullshit – which it is, but now they have insufficient time to rule it’s bullshitedness. I’m a Nick Diaz fan, so I feel bad he can’t fight. In my opinion it’s Gary Shaw’s fault for letting shit like this happen, that fat fuck!

  • JoeRoganIsAnAss says:

Ditto, but I hear those Cannibus Club cards aren’t that hard to come by…

Armando Garcia had no right to pull Nick off the card, and Gary Shaw was completely right to rip the guy publically. What gets me going is that they didn’t even allow him to test! He had the intent to fight without the “benefits” of marijuana, and should have been allowed to compete.

Bottom line, I can empathize with Nick’s refusal to take Carcinogenic drugs like ritalin, because it goes against his all natural life-style.

    Pot Jesus on Easter
    Dude, you’re a genius.
    that’s fucking hilarious

  • Higgz says:

I agree that it’s illegal so we have to honor that. However, since he has a MM-Card it’s not any different than him taking Tylenol PM. They can’t hold that against him.

If they want to say that it numbs his pain senses then they need to start testing fighters to see how many of them are addicted to pain killers.

    Asses!

no hope in dope, kids, no hope in dope.

  • kanos jimoros says:

Im betting Nick has a high tolerance to THC and hardly gets fucked up at all when he smokes. (Even if it’s the good potent shit grown in the basement) To him smoking pot is like someone else smoking a cigarette so it’s routine and not a big deal. That’s why he’s so open w/ it.

  • clint notestine says:

I don’t buy the ADHD excuse from Diaz. Ritalin is supposed to improve concentration and is not technically speed as most people think. I think he takes it to maybe get to sleep but ADD?

  • Krazytrain33 says:

So many people including Diaz miss the whole point here. It isn’t about if the CSAC has the right to deny a license, it isn’t about if pot should be legalized or if a medical prescription is legit. It’s about Diaz deciding what is more important in his life, smoking dope or fighting. He needs to make a choice, or at least shut the fuck up about it. When I was a senior in high school I liked to drink beer and I was also the quarterback of the football team. I decided football was more important than the beer and I didn’t drink during the season. That year we went undefeated until the state championship where we lost in overtime. Since then I have got drunk many times. Diaz should dedicate himself to fighting, make his cash while he is young, retire at 32 and then he can smoke all the pot he wants. He needs to grow the fuck up and make some good choices in life.

  • x5BoltMainx says:

Kind of reminds me of Ricky Williams. Pissed it all away just to get high. You only have a certain window to fight, then you can get high for the rest of your life. “You can’t have your cake & eat it too.”

  • RL Dookiefuck is RIGHT! says:

Apparently the previous three posters know Diaz’s condition and need for prescription medication better than Diaz’s own personal doctor.

If only they combined their telepathic medical acumen we could find the cure for heterosexuality once and for all.

  • shanaconda says:

if he really is clean, Nick should go to an independent lab and test clean just to rub their noses in it
    War Diaz

    Amen, great paragraph.

  • airipsus says:

Diaz should just hunt Gomi down and fight in Japan. He wouldn’t have to deal with these ass holes and he could smoke all he wants.

  • RL Dookiefuck is RIGHT! says:

It’s pretty insane that the CSAC gave Mike Kyle the green light. But Diaz’s legal prescription, which he wasn’t even tested for, is a sticking point for them.

    Nice priorities.

  • dignan says:

    Bummer.

The prescription is bullshit…but whatever. Fuck. No point in even watching the event now.

  • kermit.01 says:

I think the biggest issue is the fact they didn’t test him. Before pulling him they should have called him, said were not going to honor your medical use script and you need to test clean like everyone else. To which he said he was going to do anyway.

On legal or not, I don’t really care. I don’t smoke it, tried it a few times as a kid and it just made me sleepy. Benadryl does the same thing for me. Its a matter of weighing side affects vs. benefit. ADD in general is bullshit, its called pay fucking attention bitch.

  • Zane says:

Krazytrain you are retarded, there is nothing wrong with smoking a joint during your training camps, if you stop with enough time to piss clean. Are you advocating it would be a better option to take ADD meds? It is also a pain reliever so once again are u advocating he take some vicodin/percocet? It was his intent to piss clean so how can you say he is choosing weed over fighting? You have no right to disrespect the man by criticizing his lifestyle when he has done npthing wrong or illegal. I honeslty find it humorous that someone can be as close minded as you are

  • Atom says:

YOU’RE ALL WRONG! This is overlooked by SO MANY PEOPLE!

    Marijuana is illegal in America.
Medical Marijuana IS ILLEGAL IN AMERICA!
If you are not one of exactly 7 individuals that receive it from the U.S. government, ingesting, smoking, selling, and buying marijuana IS illegal. Nick Diaz’s card may reduce the amount of government agencies that he has to worry about, but not all of them… BECAUSE HE’S BREAKING THE LAW! A little wiki-research will clear it all up for you if you doubt.

Smoked it before, and I’ll smoke it again, but DEMS DA FAX.

  • eddiebravosbong says:

The federal government says it’s illegal…the people of the state of California voted for the use of it medically. And won the right to use it in that manner.

As far as Im concerned….end of story. CSAC stepped on their schlongs again.

  • Spork says:

Nick Diaz was the only fighter I wanted to see, so as far as im concerned the CSAC can climb a wall of dicks with their butt. /sadface

This is not true. It has been decided in the U.S. Supreme Court. By your logic, if a state or county legalizes murder, ITS LEGAL.

” the Gonzales v. Raich rule in 2005 that the Commerce Clause of the United States Constitution allow the federal government to ban the use of marijuana, including medical use anywhere in the United States”

State laws do not overide federal laws. :-p

  • Jarman says:

Krazytrain, you’re a goof. Same with Xavier, jackass.
“It’s about Diaz deciding what is more important in his life, smoking dope or fighting. He needs to make a choice, or at least shut the fuck up about it.”

Idiot. He did make a choice. He took the steps to assure that he would test clean, by staying clean for his training. He chose fighting as the priority, but they didn’t even let him prove it. They made a subjective decision, despite Nick jumping through hoops. The legality doesn’t matter, because he decided to play by their rules, regardless of how he disagreed with it.

Atom, I’m suprised. Shouting how wrong everyone is, when you’re missing the point. You’re not wrong. You’re right, but you sound too stoned to get the point. Nick would’ve tested clean. But because he has a stated political belief about his marijuana consumption, he’s pulled?

And all you people calling bullshit on the validity of his Cannabis prescription, go fuck yourselves.

It doesn’t matter, as long as he tests clean. He woud;ve too, but they robbed him of that chance.

And a further go fuck yourselves on your judgements of the validity of weed as an assist to ADD and ADHD. Ritalin may not be speed axactly, but it’s an amphetamine cousin, and has speed-like effects on adults. As a person with ADHD, I’ll tell you now that it was a problem even with Ritalin, in school. But smoking weed brought me down to an energy level where I didn’t drive ‘normal’ people crazy. It allows me to interact with all you slow folk on your level. But you guys are limited by your own tiny monkey sphere, so cannot imagine it being helpful, and just find it easier to evaluate another person’s mental conditions from aticles on the internet.

    Fuckwads.

  • Atom says:

Jarman- I’m not shouting, caps lock is just easier than bold or underline. And I personally agree with Nick, mostly, b/c weed shouldn’t even be one of the things tested for by the AC’s. I just find it astounding how many people overlook the fact that marijuana prescriptions or decriminalization by a state does not change the fact that it is illegal, a fact that was the backbone of many of the comments above.

so… say it with me, one more time in case you missed it: “MARIJUANA IS ILLEGAL”

  • Krazytrain33 says:

Wow, ok let me see if I can break it down for ya a little better then. If Nick Diaz really wants to fight he needs to give up dope. Right or wrong to smoke dope, legal or illegal it all doesn’t matter. As long as the athletic commissions list it as a banned substance they will fuck every fighter using it. So the only way to be 100% sure he can fight is to simply not do it. Every time Diaz opens his mouth about legalizing dope or his medical prescription for it or takes a hit off a joint he is taking a chance that he may not be able to fight. Maybe it is a very small chance that he would fail a test or run into other paperwork problems, but there is still the chance. If he quit that stuff altogether he would have absolutely zero problems with the athletic commissions. So once again, I say make the choice. If Diaz really wants to fight and make sure the athletic commissions have zero excuses not to license him he needs to make that choice. Sometimes in life you need to make choices that you may not necessarily agree with, but you have to swallow your pride and take care of #1.

  • Atom says:

guess you haven’t heard that according to him, his fighting is getting in the way of his weed smoking, and not vice versa

  • Krazytrain33 says:

    LOL

  • Atom says:

    funny because its true
