Nate Marquardt is headed to the UK

Nate Marquardt’s quest for a new home has ended: he’ll be headed over to England to fight for BAMMA, a promotion that’s been filling the UFC void and putting on mid-sized shows with talent like Shogun Rua, Joey Villasenor, Alex Reid and War Machine. There’s a whole bunch of hogwash about how Marquardt chose BAMMA largely because they were (kinda sorta) committed to drug testing, but I’m thinking he signed because the organization is one of the few with the kind of big name Marquardt needs to fight if he wants to stay relevant: Paul Daley.

Paul would be BAMMA’s welterweight champ at the moment if he hadn’t missed weight for his last fight with them by half a pound, and Fighters Only has people saying a Marquardt vs Daley fight is one obstacle away:

Daley is booked for this July 30th where he will face Tyron Woodley at Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Henderson. BAMMA will be watching that match closely and if Daley escapes injury he will be asked to face Marquardt at their September 10th show with the BAMMA welterweight title on the line.

It doesn’t hurt that Daley is one of the people who ‘kicked Marquardt while he was down’, as Nate likes to see it. Here’s how Paul welcomed him to BAMMA on Facebook:

“Nate “the great hormone using mate” marq’fart has signed with BAMMA, I beg for the chance to make him eat his words, calling me a coward!” he wrote.

Heh. Marq’fart. Nice one bruva!
