Sounds like Cesar Gracie’s ‘oldschool’ loyalties left Nate Diaz stuck at 170 longer than Nate would have liked. Here’s Cesar’s thoughts after watching Nate get tossed around like a rag doll by Rory MacDonald:
“Nate Diaz didn’t look too good. I’m gonna be the first one to say it. He looked lethargic out there and he’s been asking me to go back to 155 for some time now. Frankie Edgar is the champion over there and he’s the student of a good friend of mine. Nathan was one of the contenders at 155 so we brought him up to 170 but it looks like we’ll probably bring him back down to 155 where he belongs. “
Jeez, how about waiting until Nate’s *really* a lightweight contender before worrying that a friend of a friend is champion at 155? The UFC is hard enough to get ahead in without having to fight up a weightclass due to imaginary problems that may never even come to a head.
