I don’t normally pass along press type stuff I get in my mailbox, but this email I got is good news AND the chance to win free tickets to the next WEC event. Plus I want to encourage the WEC to keep pimping their shows and events … they kinda completely fucked the dog on the past few shows. Personally, I think they need a frontman … like a Dana or something. Hell, even a Shaw is better than nothing!
Anyways, here’s what I got:
Just a reminder that Versus is airing WEC Best of 2008, a two-hour special presentation on December 28 at 9 p.m. ET. The hard-hitting night includes four spectacular fights: Miguel Angel Torres vs. Yoshira Maeda, Urijah Faber vs. Jens Pulver, Carlos Condit vs. Hiromitsu Miura and the never before seen on television bout between Donald Cerrone and Rob McCullough. VERSUS will re-air the special on December 31 at 11 p.m. ET and January 1 at 3 p.m. ET and 9 p.m. ET.
Versus is also running a contest – viewers can visit www.VERSUS.com to weigh in on which of the four bouts featured in the WEC Best of 2008 special is the best fight of the year. Each person who votes will be entered into a sweepstakes for a chance to win a trip for two to VERSUS’ next live WEC event on January 25 in San Diego which will feature the Lightweight Championship fight between Jamie Varner and Donald Cerrone and the mega-rematch between Urijah Faber and Jens Pulver. The fight of the year, as decided by VERSUS viewers, will be announced in the January 25 live telecast airing on VERSUS at 9:30 p.m. ET.
I’m with my family in Tennessee and wanted to show my brother a bunch of the great WEC fights of the year. Now I don’t have to dig around on tracker sites to get them … literally, all the big fights I wanted to show him are being included on this Best of 2008 show. I know I’ve been laying it on pretty thick for this event, but what can I say? I’ve got a big boner for this thing. It’s got two of my favorite fights of the years on it.
