Dana White let his poker face slip a little when he threw a ‘welcome back tito’ into a tweet last night, but on the ESPN 1100 radio show he managed to keep his mouth relatively shut, instead trying to direct all our attention to a July 31st press conference. When asked directly about the situation, here’s what he said:
“Tito and I have been talking and we have been trying to see if we could figure things out,” said White. “I’ve said many times that Tito and I have some issues and we both need to grow up.”
But asked by fellow radio guest Yahoo! Sports writer Kevin Iole if that meant that Ortiz was already back in the fold and would be on one of the upcoming Fall fight cards, the UFC president answered, “It’s a possibility,” with a sly tone to his voice.
I’m not quite willing to put my left nut on the betting block and say that Tito Ortiz is returning to the UFC as of now. But all signs point towards it being a sure thing with the caveat that everything could still fall apart as lawyers haggle over specific contractual items. Oh, and regarding the rumors that Tito Ortiz could replace Rich Franklin vs Dan Henderson 2 at UFC 103, there doesn’t seem to be any proof whatsoever to support that. Yet, anyways.
