Right on the heels of shithead M1 executive #1 saying “We completely totally have a contract signed with Fedor”, we now have shithead M1 executive #2 saying “Okay, so we don’t really have a contract with Fedor”. Monte Cox has finally broken down and admitted the truth: that M-1 Global never actually inked a deal with Fedor and that everything is fucked between them and the Russians.
He made all these statements during Sherdog’s Savage Dog radio show on Monday. Of course, no one listens to that crap, so it was only on Wednesday after a news article was posted on the news site that anyone actually heard about any of this. Now Monte Cox claims he’s got the monkey off his back that was keeping him from doing his job and that everything will be A-OK:
“I am looking at June 14 to do our first show in Chicago,” Cox stated. “This will be a show, well, bigger than I am used to doing, somewhere along the lines of an [EliteXC] show or a WEC with a bigger headliner.”
With no allusions of supplanting the sport’s dominant player, Cox is ready to do what he has always done: make money.
“It won’t be the UFC,” he said. “We don’t have that kind of money to throw away. Now, without Fedor, I expect the show in Chicago to turn a profit.”
Sure, the show might turn a profit, but I have to wonder how much money these guys have burned in the 6 months they’ve spun their wheels. I imagine if the Chicago show is anything other than a roaring success, there’s going to be some pissed off investors in da house. Although honestly after seeing everything go on that’s gone on so far, I don’t know how they can be any angrier than they already are. I personally imagine beet red faces and steam flowing freely from ears. Yeah, that seems about right.
