McCully and Grove Set to Brawl at UFC 95

“I saw you eyeballing my pastrami sandwich. Tell your friends: don’t mess with my cold cuts.”

Heavyweights Neil Grove and Justin “The Insane 1” McCully (awesome nickname, bro) will meet in the Octagon at UFC 95. On paper, this fight appears to be your classic “striker vs. grappler” contest as Grove has seven TKO or KO victories in eight fights and McCully has five submission wins on his record. Another little tidbit that makes this fight interesting is that while Grove has shown to have fight-ending power in his fists, McCully has never been stopped from strikes in fifteen pro fights. Let’s see if the Brit can be the first man to stop “The Insane 1.”

I’m giving the nod to Grove as I think his brawling style will be too much for McCully, but then again McCully was able to grind out a decision over seasoned striker Antoni Hardonk so it is a bit of a toss up.

For those of you who are saying “Really? I care more about the living conditions of the homeless than this fight,” fear not. If anything, we will at least enjoy a few more fun quotes from Justin McCully leading up to this bout. Sticking to his sweet nickname, McCully might actually be insane.

From MMAJunkie before the Eddie Sanchez fight:

For me going from Antoni Hardonk to Gabriel Gonzaga, that’s probably the two toughest fights I’ve ever seen anybody have in the UFC. To go up to an Eddie Sanchez now is a third really quality opponent. I feel that’s a tough road. And if I prove myself at 2-1 against those three opponents, then definitely I should be considered as a contender.

His false sense of reality is akin to that of the fat girl who truly believes she’s the biggest catch in the bar. You know, the one who you go up to at last call and mumble “Lembe buy you drinik plz. You looks tasties.” Then she rolls her eyes and walks away like she’s better than you. Don’t pretend like you don’t know what I’m talking about.
