Mark Coleman’s body has once again betrayed him in training: he’s blown out his knee’s MCL ligament and is now out of his fight with Tito Ortiz. You’ll remember an almost identical situation occurring when he was supposed to face off against Brock Lesnar: knee go poppy, Coleman out, and the UFC is stuck looking for a replacement.
Coleman wants the Tito fight delayed until January, but Tito has tweeted that he’s ‘kicking someone’s ass on Nov 21st’ and I doubt the UFC will take him off the UFC 106 card since the fight was less about Ortiz vs Coleman as it was Ortiz vs someone with a nice name value to beatability ratio. Who will step in is a complete mystery, although I wouldn’t get too excited about the prospect of something really awesome coming together. That beatability thing is the most important aspect of the whole fight since Tito has designated it his comeback warm-up. So even if the UFC had someone tough in the wings ready to step in, I doubt it’d go through.
