For today’s installment of “Preparing for the inevitable”, here’s Lyoto Machida apparently looking past Rashad Evans to Brock Lesnar for a ‘test’:
“I don’t think about fight at heavyweight division, but I think about a challenge, maybe against the heavyweight champion, but it’s time for it now. My focus, for sure, is on my division now, later is later. Maybe a fight against Brock Lesnar. He’s a huge guy, showed himself very aggressive and strong, who knows if one day we can fight… I respect him as a fighter, he’s very strong, but I’m professional and I’d like to test myself.”
Cage Potato calls it a superfight and gives the edge to Brock. But if Machida lasts long enough as 205 champ to earn a shot at Lesnar, I think it’s safe to say his style has proven itself temporarily invincible. Someone will figure him out sooner or later. I hope. Still, as far as already calling out the heavyweight champ … what ever happened to guys being happy as champ of one weight class? Not to mention what ever happened to being champion first before talking about a second title?
