In the aftermath of the Burkman / Swick stinkfest, Mike Swick won the most points with me for apologizing for sucking. Josh Burkman got less for basically blaming Swick for making the fight boring and adding “ATLEAST THE PEOPLE KNOW WHO WON”, as if that fight should have been anything other than a tie.
But now Burkman is making a pretty ballsy statement, declaring that he’s not going to go to a decision against Dustin Hazelett:
“No more decisions,” he said adamantly. “I’m going to do everything I possibly can to make sure this fight doesn’t go to a decision. I’ll even retire if it does go to a decision. I can’t have them anymore.”
I gotta hand it to him, that’s tough talk coming from someone who’s got 5 of their 8 UFC fights going to decision. I also think Dustin Hazelett is the wrong person to base a retirement prediction around … the guy came out and surprised everyone by giving Josh Koscheck a truckload of trouble. In the end though, I’m not going to give him grief if the fight does go to a decision. We here at Fightlinker are just happy when fighters apologize for boring decision matches and promise to work hard to finish fights.
