JackalTV: Is EliteXC fixing fights?

(Above) Is EliteXC fixing fights: While I don’t think there was any fight fixing going on, this video does an excellent job of highlighting all the ultra-fishy monkey business that went on during the Kimbo / Thompson fight.

Okay…jesus…I can’t even watch that whole video. At most, Ol’ Dan had a whisper in his ear to try to keep the fight standing.

The tap did not happen. Since when does waving at the ref suggest a tap? Regardless, even though Kimbo hasn’t been in the game, certainly Bas has had the time to teach him the “official” sign of tapping, touching your opponent three times in quick succession. In the least, Kimbo thought about tapping and then found some air.

Next and last, the fight should NOT have beens stopped in the second round. I know that this has been a topic of much debate, but simply watch the fight again. Sure, Kimbo was laying, barely able to get a hand up to try to protect himself. He was tired. They were both tired, hence James not having the gas to finish the fight at that moment. None of those blows were damaging! A lot of these “hard elbows” that people keep brining up are simply weak FOREARM STRIKES! Don’t get me wrong, I think that the fight COULD HAVE been stopped at that time, I just don’t think that IT SHOULD HAVE.

Oh, I actually want to say something about the final stoppage. Kimbo had James hurt pretty bad when the ref stepped in. There can only ne conjecture, but I doubt Colossus would have still been standing after another 3-4 blows. In my opinion, a ref is doing his job best if he can step in and stop a fight BEFORE the final KO happens. The loser might be angry at that very moment, but unless they’re an idiot, they will be appreciative of that fact for the next few days, if not the rest of their lives. It’s hard to tell because the left eye is James’ bad one, but he surely appeared to basically be out on his feet, looking everywhere but at the ref or Kimbo. I MEAN, COME ON, DID YOU REALLY WANT TO ACTUALLY SEE JAMES GET HIS -OTHER- EYE GET KNOCKED WONKY TOO?

And that’s it. I don’t want to be involved in a conversation about Thompson/Ferguson ever again….

And believe it or not, I was rooting for my boy James to pull off the upset!! I won’t talk about the money that I lost on him, because that’s a whole other post…

The James Thompson/ Kimbo Slice controversy, can defineately set up a big second fight. In my opinion, James Thompson made a lot of fans in this fight, and Kimbo lost some nuthuggers. Hopefully Gary Shaw plays things right, and builds “The Colossus” up, to set up a rematch.

Chill out Gonzo. The world still turns.

    Word Gonzo, word.

While I think Kimbo vs Thompson was early stoppage, I don’t agree with that video. They doctored the footage.. They speed up the video by like .5x while Thompson is landing his elbows to make them look more bad ass. I didn’t remember him hitting that hard, and when I checked out the clock, it was moving pretty quick.
Still, I think JT got robbed.

It was obvious that Kimbo had “favorable” moments of the fight. you dont stand up someone when they are in side control, working for an even more humiliating posiiton(trapping both arms). Any other fighter would of been stopped if they were in a vulnerable position for a minute and a half, much of the time with both arms trapped and NOT able to defend himself. And the stoppage after the ear explosion adn 3-4 good shots…..If that was the case why didnt ref stop the fight in the opening minute when Kimbo landed teh same, if not more hard punches that had JT on queer streeet for a moment.

No doubt did Kimbo receive a gift, but really I dont care because that was a circus of an event. Rome is Buring says it best….

I was so proud of you guys for the even review of the show. But that video is ridiculous.

  • fightfan says:

What about the point when they send the camera shot to one from the FURTHEST away and HIGHEST point from the fight for a good 5 seconds. It is about 10-15 seconds after Kimbo gives the “thumbs up, I cant breath and am about to pass out I am OK, thumbs up)

That is when I beleive Rogers was talking about the “possible” tap. It was the point just as JT is throwing down Kimbo by his neck??? There was no need to pan away like that???? People have said it was because JT’s shorts were about to come down. Watch the video….Shorts are in same position before and after camera changes. Shorts were not in danger of dropping

  • Mark says:

Either way, the “tap” was obviously a thumbs up on second watch, Kimbo wasn’t taking too much damage at the end of round two, and James Thompson looked like he was in another world when they called an end to the fight. The stand up from Side control was total crap, but the rest was all reasonable.

Update the post and change the title brothers: the main event video has been taken down.

    Don’t wanna false advertise.

  • ricky says:

That vid was ok, but the gnp clip from round 2 was sped up to make Thompson’s hits look better

  • goo says:

STILL haven’t seen the Torres fight from the WEC. I’m raging.
