before the fifth round Koscheck kept pushing the bag of ice away from his face… ’cause he figured it would be better to use a tampon to clear up his vag-eye-na.

  • iamphoenix says:

they used boxing gloves in this fight? And wore t shirts?

  • Reverend Clint says:

^didnt you notice you really are too close to the DMZ

  • YEAH RIGHT says:

I am not impressed by your performaance

  • Schrute Boxe says:

now THAT’S how you use the jab.

the beauty of the sweet science was in full effect tonight

  • Reverend Clint says:

i hate that term the sweet science it makes boxing sound so gay… oh wait.

  • Schrute Boxe says:

you’re absolutely right, boxing is fabulous

if one can enjoy jiu-jitsu, then there should be no problem appreciating the strategy and precision behind boxing.

  • subo says:

Koscheck tired to counter a guy that was too smart to be countered. Dumb strategy.

  • Fedor.Hadouken says:

    Another boring GSP fight.

    Meh.

    P4P biggest snoozefest ever.

  • GoldenArms says:

Yee haw, let’s see Dana find another jobber wrestler who can’t strike. You P4P champ can’t even throw a combination. Hughes, KOS, Fitch… who is next? Jake Obrien?

  • NinjaCodah says:

    “Another boring GSP fight.

    Meh.

    P4P biggest snoozefest ever.”

… says the Fedor fan. That fucking guy ain’t even fighting, how boring is THAT!

  • Reverend Clint says:

    ^ha

  • Fedor.Hadouken says:

at least when he fights somebody gets finished.

    fuck GSP.

  • Schrute Boxe says:

if one wants to assign blame for the fight somehow being “boring”, then direct it to the challenger who backed up for 25 minutes trying to plant the hail mary dan henderson special that never came.

  • Schrute Boxe says:

“at least when he fights somebody gets finished.

    fuck GSP.”

when you’re fighting guys like zulu, mark hunt, coleman and rogers there’s no excuse for not finishing them

  • subo says:

    Cry moar’

GSP Kos and a half dozen other UFC WWs would SMOKE Koscheck

Maybe GSP should renegotiate his contract like a bitch for a year and win over some of these bitter Fedoristas that are used to fucking squash matches

  • iamphoenix says:

i missed the part how fedor was ever mentioned in the original post, which I’m still befuddled as to why the commission is allowing those 2 fighters to wear shirts.

  • mmariusp says:

GSP Kos and a half dozen other UFC WWs would SMOKE Koscheck

Ok? what does that even mean?

    Fun fight, fun event.
I was kind of impressed that Kos stayed in for the last two rounds.

I can´t understand why Dana insists that Anderson is the P4P king, in my eyes it´s clearly GSP, sure he got knocked out by Serra in 2007 but has been absolutely fantastic ever since, the competition he has faced and overcome trumps Andersons any day of the week

  • P W says:

Kos doesn’t deserve to be in same cage as GSP. It was not a very exciting fight but satisfying in the way that Kos is a prick and deserved a good spanking.

And what’s the deal, are you or are you not allowed to fight with only one eye open?

Edit: While searching for an answer to my own question, I stumbled on this: “All contestants shall be CLEANLY SHAVEN immediately prior to competition, except that a contestant may wear a closely cropped mustache.”

  • Fedor.Hadouken says:

Until GSP starts finishing these “lesser” opponents, or beating guys above his weight class he’s not P4P king.

  • Blackula Jonez says:

When GSP can lose 4 straight rounds, some by 10-8 and pull out a finish like a goddamn magician then he gets the #1 p4p slot.

Both guys fought twice this year, GSP outwrestled strikers and boxed the shit out of wrestlers while Anderson acted a fool and damn near lost….but still pulled off the win in the end.

It is nice to be in an era with two spectacular champs. I have a new respect for GSP’s stand up, he reminds me of Maywheather…sans ducking fights and the legal troubles.

  • UberShmact says:

Why does Kos get none of the blame? The dude stood there with his hands up and walked backwards for 25min.

  • Blackula Jonez says:

If they can’t get past the jab, fuck ’em

    – Floyd Mayweather Senior

  • Blackula Jonez says:

what is there to blame, Kos was able to stop and get back up quickly from takedowns only to find out he could not strike with GSP.

And this is coming from a guy who is indifferent to Boss Canada.

  • YEAH RIGHT says:

I was pretty impressed with Kos’ wrestling. I think it threw GSP off not being able to take him down and keep him down.

GSP’s jab looked fucking good! Unfortunately that’s the only punch he threw. His cross looked like dog shit (the two times he threw it) and his hook was nothing to write home about. He should have been throwing hooks and head kicks all night.

GSP fights safe, dominant, but safe. He could have finished kos if he was more aggressive, but he didn’t want to risk leaving himself open. It’s hard to put a guy at p4p #1 who doesn’t finish fights when he can.

The last fight GSP finished was Matt Serra. Matt Serra.

Sure, you can say he “finished” BJ, but he quit on the stool.

  • Márcio says:

GSP is now the best p2p fighter in MMA, no doubt. Now if he could at least finish some fights that would be awesome too. I think he needs to work a bit more on his power strikes, his striking looks very clean and the jab had alot of snap in it but Kos was virtually blind from his right eye for almost three full rounds and the few left hooks that GSP was able to conect didn’t seem to ever get close to finishing the fight. He has to have more confidence on his jits as well, he had Kos back a couple of times and he didn’t even try to get his hooks in, I know he was playing it safe but he so clearly outmatched his opponent that I at least felt that he could have finished the fight if he had pushed a bit harder.

If Shield isn’t able to put GSP on his back, it’s gonna be a bad night for him, his striking is even worst than Koschecks and Shields has no KO power. After that I can’t see a single WW who even has a place in the cage with Georges.

All in all a great night of fights and a very entertaining main event featuring the best fighter on the planet.

  • FiveBoltMain says:

You guys are fucking retard. You bitch when he wrestles. So he puts on a boxing clinic and you still bitch.

    Keep on hating!

    😀

  • Lesnar.Dancer says:

like GSP would fight with a rib injury in the first place.

  • unclefesterdanawhite says:

I figured that Koscheck could KO GSP if he kept the fight standing (and he DID keep the fight standing. His takedown defense was solid and he was able to get back up quickly when GSP did manage to take him down). But it’s apparent now that Koscheck is a really shitty striker. Just because a guy has KO power doesn’t mean he’s a good striker. He’s just another UFC brawler with KO power that looks for the overhand right. GSP vs. Koscheck is a perfect example of how to box a brawler. Koscheck may have power but if you have to be able to land in order for that power to do something. Freddie Roach’s Andrei Arlovski experiment didn’t work but perhaps that’s Andrei’s fault and not Roach’s fault. Freddie seemed to do a good job with GSP for the few weeks he trained with him.

That all said, I did find the fight mostly boring. It was interesting at first to see Koscheck get tooled like that. But I was already half-asleep by round 3 or 4. It’s not GSP’s fault. His opponents are the ones responsible for stepping their game up. But it’s boring to watch. I’m sorry. It’s shit like this why I don’t watch boxing on a regular basis. Like the boxers, GSP likes to play it safe (why would you expect him to brawl when he could open himself up to another KO loss? Better for him to exploit the weaknesses of his oppoents while minimizing risk to himself) and while his domination takes a lot of technical skill, it’s boring to watch for 25 minutes.

  • Lesnar.Dancer says:

Throwing a jab over and over isn’t a boxing clinic. It’s a good strategy with his size and reach advantage. Not to mention that Josh was only throwing that right all damn night. haha.

    Jab.
    Tries to throw a right.
    Jab.

    Yawn.

GSP just finds that one thing that keeps him safe and falls in love with it. Would have loved to see him throw more kicks.

  • Lesnar.Dancer says:

And the Shields match is a joke. Dana is fast tracking a champ from another organization to make his champ look even better. It’s ego and fight politics.

That and he’s running out of people to feed to GSP.

Not that Shields isn’t a great fighter but he has no chance against GSP.

I’ll call him GOAT when he moves up and dominates people. He could easily make 185.

  • unclefesterdanawhite says:

I think GSP moving up to middleweight would be a bad idea. I strongly disagree with Fightlinker’s (what he said on radio) assessment that moving up 1 weight class won’t make a difference for GSP vs. Anderson Silva. Moving from one weight class to another can make a fuckload of difference in MMA when you are dealing with high caliber athletes. BJ Penn can get away with moving to 170 to fight Matt Hughes because Matt Hughes isn’t a top caliber 170er anymore. But he was too small for GSP, who outmuscled him. GSP is 5’10”, Anderson Silva is 6’2″. Even if GSP bulked up to Anderson Silva’s weight, Giving up that much reach to Anderson Silva might not be a good thing…

  • Jim says:

“Fans” voted this fight of the night. Seriously WTF.

  • P W says:

“But it’s apparent now that Koscheck is a really shitty striker.”

It became apparent NOW? I don’t recall him ever being anything more than a slugger at best.

  • Letibleu says:

You guys got it all wrong. This picture is not GSP vs. Koscheck. It is Sean Pierson vs. Matt Riddle.

At this point I am assuming Riddles game plan was to break both of Pierson’s hands with his face.

Pierson jabbed ALL NIGHT LONG and landed most of them. Matt just kept coming forward and punching air. He would throw a looping right and Pierson would jab him into missing. Riddle never changed his game plan. I cant remember the last time I saw someone land so many jabs and I cant remember the last time I saw someone eat so many. This could serriously be some kind of record.

Riddle needs a new boxing coach. Maybe he just sucks.

I still like Riddle thought because he fixed my camera @ UFC 109.

Here is my version of the sketch:my version

  • Reverend Clint says:

“It’s hard to put a guy at p4p #1 who doesn’t finish fights when he can.”
PW by your logic should anderson have been ranked all the times he didnt finish guys at 185, he rapes dudes at 205 though.

  • P W says:

^ Reverend Clint: I think you mixed up a quote there.

  • subo says:

Marcio – Son I am not disappoint
Blackula – So GSP has to get his ass beat for almost a half hour by a better wrestler before he’s the best?
Lesnar.Dancer – He finished the fight against Alves at 100 with a torn groin, you fuck

  • Reverend Clint says:

ha sorry… i get confused so early in the morning

  • Schrute Boxe says:

when bj penn outclassed diego sanchez via boxing clinic, he was called the greatest lw ever and he had officially cleaned out the division.

but when gsp does it a year later, suddenly it’s safe and boring?

  • GoldenArms says:

how was that a boxing clinic? all he did was demonstrate what we all learned on the first day of boxing 101. GSP cannot be the p4p champ because his division is full of cans. whats the diff between zulu and kos? one defends the takedown, the other is too fat to takedown. same thing.

  • GoldenArms says:

hong man choi is more dangerous than kos or fitch

  • Reverend Clint says:

to me a boxing clinic involves more than just one move.

  • Lesnar.Dancer says:

BJ Penn ended the fight and used more than a jab.

  • Reverend Clint says:

i was just saying, not about that fight but others ive heard called a clinic.

  • iamphoenix says:

to me, a boxing clinic is for boxers who don’t have health insurance…

  • G Funk says:

^ nO, it’s a place where they treat boxing disease.

  • Schrute Boxe says:

GSP was doing way more than just an effective jab.

there was a damn good reason why Koscheck only landed 1 punch out of 30 in the 4th round

  • FiveBoltMain says:

    LMAO @ Korean

  • iamphoenix says:

i too laugh at koreans on a daily basis.

  • Blackula Jonez says:

Subo – GSP needs to has to have his biggest weakness exploited and still finish his opponent.

Outclassing your opponent on cruise control is kind of dope but I’ve seen it already from Georges, At least Sheilds doesn’t have any stand up to speak of and should hopefully get his block knocked cleanly off when they fight.

  • Reverend Clint says:

its like making a nascar driver do 45 around the track, sure there might be some excitement but really thats not a challenge. throw him in a rally car in sweden and not you have me interested. GSP needs to be thrown for a loop not led down the same path at 1/4 speed.

  • theinsaneoneJustinMcCully says:

You all are just jealous that GSP won’t get brain damage.

  • CAP says:

Speed kills. And that’s been his advantage standing. The others can’t hang and are getting blasted before they see it coming. That was better than a 25 minute humpfest.
