Ivan says…

MMAWeekly’s Ivan Trembow is the shit. Even his comments on other people’s blogs are better than half the crap being spewed on the front pages of MMA sites across the net. Here’s what he has to say about the bullshit judging for Bisping/Hamill, and it perfectly explains the anatomy of a bad decision:

The UFC, specifically Marc Ratner, is responsible for bringing in the judges, officials, inspectors, etc. and essentially acting as the athletic commission when they run shows in unregulated places like the United Kingdom.

Two people that watched the event with me are now pretty sour on the whole sport in general, saying that it’s corrupt and full of crap. I had to try to convince them that it was just incompetence and gutlessness on the part of the judges, and not corruption.

Again, when making the argument to my pissed off friends that the judges were simply incompetent and gutless as opposed to corrupt, I basically had to say never mind the fact that the judges on these unregulated UFC shows are hired by the UFC, paid for by the UFC, chosen by the UFC, flown in by the UFC, etc. In the case of that particular fight, I think it was just a case of the judges being gutless in not wanting to have the fight scored 2 rounds to 0 headed into the final round, which is unfortunately not that uncommon to see, and then giving the final round to Bisping, which at that point would give him 2 rounds to 1.

  • Johnny Pastrami says:

Great, another bozo blaming judges for everything. Overlooking the silence of the announcers on the decision and the suspicious cut scene
they played of the fight after it was over. blah

  • TIGERTAO says:

Sadly people are gonna take it just like Ivan’s friends did and think it was a fix, prepare for the conspiracy theories Fightlinker…

Lets see now, the Fertitas are Italian they run Zuffa (Italian for Fighter or some shit) from Vegas, Vegas is run by the Mafia, they bought Pride of the Yakuza, Matt Hamill’s deaf so Cecil Peoples shot JFK…

  • Johnny Mazzagatti says:

Don’t try to distract us with mafia conspiracies.

Analyze the announcers reactions and the funny footage at the end.

  • Xavier says:

Ivan says… the right shit there. That was one of the worst decisions I’ve seen period. I wanted Nick Diaz to run out of the crowd, grab the mic and say “See? See? It didn’t just happen to me, they fuck over everyone with this incompetent crap.”

Whenever a UFC event happens there should be a glass case somewhere around with Nick Diaz inside to “Break in case of judging” so he can do the interview for the “beaten” fighter.

Talk about a decision ruining an entire night of fights. Awful.

  • marshal says:

Nick Diaz glass case, that was funny. It has me questioning the UFC also.

  • jazzn says:

The whole thing sucks and it’s a big turnoff.

  • kentyman says:

When the highlight footage after the fight shows you narrowly escaping a takedown, you know you’re gonna win that decision.

  • John says:

This whole thing does suck. Mabye if everyone makes a big enough deal about Dana will have to do something to ensure to us it won’t happen again.

  • Teufel says:

Wait… what? Hamill was aggressive and looked impressive in the first… then he gassed. He got a few good shots in the second and third and secured a few takedowns but did nothing on the ground. Bisping was able to counter Hamill’s stand-up in the 2nd/3rd and returned Hamill’s single punches with combinations. You’re not going to win a fight if you lay and pray for 2 rounds, get takedowns stuffed and get hit with multiple combinations.

How people can diss Koscheck for being a wet blanket fighter yet proclaim Hamill a victor in a fight where he lay there for most of the fight is hilarious. I don’t know why people think he won, if it’s because he’s deaf and people feel sorry for him or because he came out to “Born in the USA” or because Bisping is a cocky prick and people just don’t like him, but… Bisping won that fight. It was close, but he definitely did enough in the 2nd and 3rd to win. Don’t get me wrong, the decision could have gone either way, it was that close, but to say Hamill got robbed is the dumbest thing I’ve ever read anywhere outside of the Sherdog forums. What I don’t understand is how one ref gave all 3 rounds to Hamill, 2, maybe, but all 3? That’s the guy that needs to be fired.

  • kentyman says:

Without getting too much into it, I really think you need to watch that fight again, Teufel. Lay and pray? Hamill beat Bisping at “effective striking, grappling, aggression, and octagon control”. That’s a win in my book.

  • johnny says:

#2, the Ferttita’s are not “Italians”-they are American’s of Italian Descent.

  • Once a wop, always a wop! Wait … is that the right racist expression? Damn I gotta get better at my hate. I didn’t get to see the wierd cut scene or announcer reactions … I was impatient and streamed the live Japanese version of the event, so I didn’t get any of that. All I saw was Hamill controlling Bisping the entire fight :-p

And I completely 100% agree with Trembow that it’s because the judges scores it 1 round each to avoid locking a decision going into the third. Here’s where a ten point must system is completely flawed. One more bad decision on a high profile match and hopefully the problem will be addressed.

  • johnny says:

Stevie wonder could have judged that fight better.

I don’t know how Micheal Bisping slept last night knowing he was given that gift.

Me,personally, I wouldn’t lose any sleep at night over something like that because I’m incredibly handsome and i live a house that is made of chocolate and 18 year old Eastern European girls

  • el feo says:

    10 minute first rounds!

  • Mr. Theplague says:

What was the cutscene? I don’t remember.

  • Johnny Piscopani says:

Trembow is playing the blame game, and not addressing the true problem, I’m surprised you don’t see that. If the UFC does not want to look like a completely corrupt organization, they should overturn the decision.

  • Johnny Piscopani says:

I can’t explain in detail because I only saw it once, but basically the cut scene was the only sorry bunch of crap ass shit they could find showing Hammil under the slightest bit of pressure.

  • db says:

If you call someone an asshole would it be better to call them of anal decent. It is hard to believe that such sissies watch this sport. I know the Fertittas and they have no problem being called Italian. They are proud of it.
