In the Moment

The UFC has a bit of a spotty record when it comes to non-fight programming. Sure, the Countdowns are pretty popular and the Primetime shows are basically the same thing broken up into a few parts. But does anyone remember that terrible Inside the UFC talk show Joe Rogan hosted for like 10 seconds on Spike?

Now we may have another series that sucks. Or it may rock. I dunno. Naturally, I lean towards assuming it will blow because I’m a superhero who’s power is that I’m an insufferable grumpy douche. But what can you expect when the show is called ‘In the Moment’???

Spike TV unveils a new type of pre-event preview show on Thursday with the debut of “UFC Presents Jon Jones: In the Moment.” The special airs at 11 p.m. ET/PT ahead of Jones’ UFC 128 title fight on Saturday with UFC light-heavyweight champion Mauricio “Shogun” Rua.

Officials told ( the half-hour special follows the fighter’s pre-fight preparations, told from his point of view with no narration.

“UFC Presents Jon Jones: In the Moment” covers the fighter’s quick ascent in the UFC’s 205-pound division and his first-ever UFC title shot. The special takes viewers inside his training camp and family life both in his home state of New York and in his camp at Greg Jackson’s New Mexico gym. With strong ratings, the “UFC Presents” special could return ahead of future events.

I hope there’s sexy soothing jazz music to go along with the Kenny G style ‘In the Moment’ name for this show. That way we can all lay back on our couches and wank it to Jon Jones in preparation for his big win on Saturday.

What’s the over-under on how many references he’ll make to God?

Nah dood…..I’m really looking forward to this. I love behind the scenes training stuff. I hate the hyperbolic narration & bogus smack talk. Just show how these fools train & sacrifice. That was kinda why I watched the Tapout show when it 1st came out. I wanted to see Rob Roy training in his momma’s backyard w/his cousin Tyrell.

Ryan–>your super power is smothering talented new writers that blossomed in your absence.

Its all Propaganda to make all the dummies believe he deserves the Title Shot. Listen people 3 fight win streak againist Vera>Matyushenko>Bader does not mean title shot to me. But if you say it LOUD enough and constant enough, all the retards believe it. Plus the USA is in love with Civilized black men so thats a plus.

The Jones hype is at a fever pitch right now. Shogun is getting no love almost like it’s a formality Jone’s is the champ. Obviously Jones hasn’t fought anyone at Shoguns level so it should be interesting to see if he can hang. I can’t rule Shogun out as I think he will have a good game plan and is battle tested. I want to see Jones in some trouble to see how he reacts. I’m getting fired up for this one!

Pre-Dater–>everyone had pretty much the same opinion about Cain too. But he whooped the living shit out of Lesnar & now “HE’S DA MAN”. I’m not jumping on hype trains & I actually think Shogun’s skillset is a great test here… the same token, I think “old school” guys like Shogun have not faced young guns like Bones.

For the record, I can’t fucking believe Bones is a 2 to 1 fave here!! That pretty much tells you all you need to know.
