Before Fedor was DAS MAN, Igor Vovchanchyn was. From 1995 to 2000 he was virtually unstoppable and then from 2000 – 2005 he held his own in the shark tank that was the PRIDE heavyweight division. Check out his record, it’s fucking massive. He retired a few years ago citing his damaged fists, which he turned to mush pulverizing opponents. But he must be sick of using his hands for wussy peaceful things like building stuff and holding women. He’ll be back in action this September, in Korea of all places:
Fighting Mixed Combative have announced that Igor Vovchanchyn will make his comeback at Fighting Mixed Combative’s second event in September. A representative from FMC said that many fans in Korea have said that they want to see Vovchanchyn so he decided to negotiate with him. It seems like they got him after a lengthy persuasion. Because of their heavy Russian Sambo connections, FMC are looking at signing big name Russian fighters one after one.
Also on the September card, Aleksander Emelianenko vs. Blagoy Alexandre Ivanov is rumored to take place.
You may remember Blagoi Ivanov as the guy who recently defeated Fedor Emelianenko in a sambo match. Oh, and Blagoi’s opponent Aleks would be in the news too if anyone had the balls to do some investigative journalism into whether or not he has hepatitis. But as it stands everyone has just decided that ‘maybe’ (with a large serving of probably) is an acceptable answer to that question.
