How bad was Scott Ferrall? This bad.

While it’s pretty easy to just say Scott Ferrall sucks, Monsieur Sam Caplan takes another view of things:

Ferrall is great in the right role but putting him in as a ring announcer was short-sighted on the part of the organizers of YAMMA. To expect Ferrall to come in and play the role of traditional ring announcer — if that’s what they expected — was just unrealistic.

To think Ferrall wasn’t going to try and add his personal flair to the introductions in an attempt to make them more interesting is just ignorant. YAMMA is either at fault for not doing their homework or if they were familiar with Ferrall, then they are at fault for not casting him in a role that he was better suited for.

It’s not a bad point … booking Ferrall as a ring announcer would be like assembling a team of supermodels to dig ditches next to the highway. Sure it’s amusing for the first little while, but those ditches need digging or rain might condense on the road causing more accidents and shortening the lifecycle of the pavement by up to 30%!

Personally I hate Ferrall in every form he’s in … the guy’s voice is worse than the whine of a dentist’s drill for me. But I’m not going to argue with the huge number of people who tune into his radio show all the time. Some people like having sex with big fat chicks too. Different strokes for different folks.

lol @ some people like having sex with BIG fat chicks!

  • clint notestine says:

That guy was the only redeeming thing about the YAMMA show… not that he was good but just waiting to see what dumb fucking thing he would say next.

  • Gong says:

Ferall’s ring announcer voice (um, is that his real voice? I really hope not) is a travesty upon mankind’s ears. I did find it amusing when he does this sidestepping waltz thing every time he talked.

  • garth says:

that guy was seriously difficult to deal with. if he has any redeeming qualities in other aspects of his professional life, i feel sorry for him getting jammed into that job. but frankly, he should have said “Me? Fuck no, what are you, idiots?”
isn’t he like an MMA fan of some kind on the radio?

  • Fightlinker Jackal says:

I respect the majority of Sam’s work, but honestly wtf is thinking? He guy is NOT original, and does NOT have flair. He’s an annoying person who added absolutely NOTHING to the show which was bad enough to start with.

  • Brandon Sanchez says:

I like most of what Sam has to say, but I did not see these fights, and have never heard of this guy. That guy is really, really bad.

  • Xavier says:

While he’s awful as hell, he’s still not as bad as Jimmy Lennon Jr. on EliteXC. At least Ferrell’s voice is annoying enough to keep you awake during his long ass intro, Lennon Jr. just coaxes you right to sleep.

  • Esther says:

Hmm, I like Jimmy Lennon, Jr., he’s got better pronunciation of foreign words than other announcers.

  • natureboy says:

    This guy is deplorable.

  • Paul S. says:

Scott Ferrall has a fine voice for an auctioneer or maybe on old timey horse race announcer.

  • samscaff says:

Jimmy Lennen Jr. is one of the best in the world. When events cant get Michael Buffer, Jimmy is usually their next choice.

Scott Ferrall, on the other hand, should be shot.

  • P W says:

I don’t understand why an announcer is needed in the ring at all, other than by tradition. I think Pride’s screaming female announcer was kinda funny.
