Interesting news from the land of M1 Global. The guys who run RussianMMA.com got the following news from an insider from (you guessed it) the Russian side of things:
* Vadim Finkelstein became the president of the company (yes, we are talking about the M-1 Global, and not about the Russian M-1 company, which was under Finkelstein all the time) in the middle of February.
* M-1 Global Challenge is a product of Vadim Finkelstein and “the active and energetic part of M-1 Global” (which include all the European and Japanese people you can name as well as American Jerry Millen with his camera team).
* American people (Monte Cox, Mitchell Maxwell and others) are therefore considered to be not active and energetic. Moreover, without the transformations “this swamp with uncertainty about the format and the dates of the shows would just go on and on. ” Now they can finally move forward and “will do everything the can to make as much shows and fights as possible”.
* The future of American side is not known yet.
As this is just the POV from one side, I’d be very interested to know what the view is from the other side. Is this Vadim and his gang basically saying “You Americans ain’t doing shit, we’re taking over”? It certainly seems like they’re basically calling Cox and Maxwell as useful as a runner with no legs.
The most important one to watch for is the whole “I’m el presidente of M1 Global” claim. If the US side denies this then you know you’ve got a power struggle on your hands where the Russians are trying to seize control of M1 Global and oust the Americans rather than simply walk away and taking Fedor with them.
Regardless, it looks like just another chapter in the fucked up history between these guys.
