His [Tim Sylvia’s] manager, Monte Cox, would neither confirm nor deny that the bout had been agreed to, but said that his client has not signed to fight Emelianenko. He did add, however, “As Tim’s manager, I would certainly entertain the opportunity for him to fight Fedor.”
You know Cox has to be steaming pissed out the ears about this. He just signed Timmy to an unexclusive contract with Adrenaline and was most likely planning on using him for the proposed Adrenaline show in mid-June. Now all of a sudden those cocksucking Russians are back in the picture, potentially tying up Tim through the summer! So is Coxy going to do the right thing for his client and push the deal through or is he gonna act like it’s a square peg in a round hole so everything falls apart?
I have no doubt that Tim Sylvia wants this fight, but will his manager? If Tim loses (which Cox must understand is pretty likely), he loses a decent amount of value before Adrenaline even gets to use him once. This is the problem with non-exclusive contracts … you can’t control what happens to your stars outside your promotion. Add to that the fact that Cox has already agreed to pay Tim stupid money (300k per fight), and you really have to wonder if he’s going to help his new star fighter set Adrenaline up for another value loss.
Of course, maybe Cox thinks this is just great because he knows Tim will win! Yeah!
Okay, there’s your stupid joke for the post.
