Hair spunk IDs Christmas rapist as BJJ champ

Bloody Elbow picked up on the oddball story about Cameron Lee Earle, a ‘BJJ champion’ who is now accused of rape and various other sexual crimes:

On Christmas Eve 2003, a San Jose woman was putting presents under her tree as her husband and two children slept upstairs. A masked man barged in and held a knife to her throat as she pleaded for her life. He sexually assaulted her and, putting her in a bathroom, fled with money and a coffee pot.

DNA left in the woman’s hair, law enforcement authorities say, is that of Earle.

This is but one of the several sexy incidents that police accuse Earle of initiating. Interestingly enough, Earle’s friends are still claiming he is innocent based on the fact that some of his alleged victims escaped their attacker:

Why would he use a knife? How could the woman have escaped the grasp of a man who could hold some of the world’s best martial artists in a grasp so powerful that they passed out?

“That’s the equivalent of somebody saying in court that they beat Michael Jordan in a pickup game of basketball,” Marques said.

Oh, it’s the old “Cameron Lee Earle is not a rapist, but if he was then he wouldn’t fuck it up” defense. As for Earle’s credentials, they check out, I suppose: 2005 North American Champion, 2004 Copa Atlanta Black Belt Champion, 2004 United Gracie Superfight Champion, and 76K ADCC Qualifier. Of course I have no idea what any of those tournaments are past ADCC, so for all I know they could be the crackerjack events of the jiu jitsu world.
